Hi Everybody,
After the trauma of the
re-motoring of the Talus it is now time to fit out the wheelhouse of the
lifeboat.
This first shot shows the state of the wheelhouse at the beginning of the
detailing with the bare consoles fitted.

Next the chart table and radio table are fitted along with the storage
boxes that double up as supports for two of the crew seats. The steps lead
to the upper steering platform and the pole in the centre supports the end
of the chart table (on the original this would be fastened to the roof!).

Next items on the agenda are the seats for the crew. These are made from
front sections of seat from Action man jeeps! Only the front of the
moulding is used and the seat back/base are built up to the correct sizes.
Two of these are fitted onto the storage lockers and the next three are
mounted on swivel bases. The swivel bases are made from glue stick
containers which are correct in length to 1mm!!!

After a base coat of paint the seats are positioned to see the effect.

At this stage the wiring for the folding radar mast has to be fitted along
with the interior lights. All the lights on this boat are led's to avoid
the problem of changing bulbs. These next pictures show the Navigation
lights, front work lights and interior lights as fitted. All these led's
are now wired to a bank of miniature switches on the upper steering
position and all lighting can be controlled in any order.
All these pictures were taken in the dark with only the led's for
illumination ( thank the man who invented digital cameras!!!!).

The stern
light is shining on the wall behind the radar mast.

The navigation lights are off and the three deck work lights are on

This last picture shows the interior lights as seen through the front
windows of the wheelhouse.
The next stage will be to make all the navigation/radio consoles/equipment
and fit them in position.
Bye for now Mike
