Hi there Martin,  The information trip to Scarborough was a great success and the following pictures are part of the resulting new fittings!

This first shot is of the central navigation console

This picture shows the component parts for the TFT screen used with the GPS navigation system. The main body of the screen is made from timber with an overlay of the controls glued on the face.

The following is a screen capture of my PC showing the production of radio/navigation overlays using Adobe Photoshop. These are then printed on hi-res matt paper for use.

This picture shows the TFT screens completed and ready for fittting in position in the wheelhouse.

This final shot shows the main radio/navigation systems in position in the wheelhouse.

Hi Martin, I have now finished the radio/navigation station in the wheelhouse and here are the rest of the pictures.

This first one shows the rear corner electrics fitted

This shows the circuit breaker board under the desk and the last of the seats can now be fitted. The chart (3"x3") on the table is a copy of the actual coastal chart of the area from Whitby to Flamborough Head.

Here is a shot of the finished area of the wheelhouse.

The automatic chain releases have been fitted to the hull and look great in operation!!

I have made the flags that all RNLI boats fly and I am pleased with the results. I made the design in Photoshop and printed them on T Shirt transfer paper. They were then ironed onto white cotton fabric and look superb.

Just to make everybody green with envy I really do have a "tight" space in which to fit my radio gear!!! This space in the real boat is where the fuel tanks are fitted and is underneath the wheelhouse floor.

Here I have started on the control panels at the inside helm position. All the panels are made from the photographs/measurements that I took onboard the Scarborough boat.

This first picture shows the engine rev counters and capsize reset control panel.

Here is the main helm position with the switch panels fitted and the twin throttle controls. the next item to be fitted will be the compass when it's been separated from the key ring that it's built into!!

The next items to be built will be the upper control panels.

Here we go again,   I have just finished the upper (head height) instrument panels.

This first shot shows the upper central and upper starboard instrument panels complete with led lights fitted. the central panel is the mechanics engine monitoring gauges, oil pressure, temperature, battery state etc. The starboard panel has the fuel gauges, digital speedo (speedometer) and clock.

This picture shows the port upper panel which contains a radio system, rudder angle indicator, digital  compass repeater and depth reader.

This shows a general view of the helm position with the panels in place and the compass fitted. All the wiring from the led's is ready to be connected to the throttle/rudder mixer to allow the lights to change when the engine is running.

This last picture shows the red warning lights lit for when the boat is stationary with the engines turned off. The green lights show the fuel state (green= full tanks!!). As I said the red lights will go out when the throttles are opened up, when the boat is on the water nobody will see this happen but I will know that they do!!!

I took this picture with no other lights close by in a dim room, to see how effective the panel illumination was, looking through the door into the wheelhouse without the roof fitted.

It's now time to work on the outside upper steering position.

Stay Tuned , more to come soon,         Mike
