I took these two pictures of the Mersey on its carriage today whilst I was moving the boat from its location in the kitchen back into the outside workshop. This was a command from my wife under pain of death!!!

This first picture shows the boat in its minimum height configuration to allow housing in the boathouse.

This last picture shows the boat with the aerials/radar mast fully extended ready to launch.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently but the Mersey build has taken a back seat to my current project, a 1/12th Tyne class Lifeboat 47-008 RNLB Phil Mead. This WAS the boat stationed at Teesmouth until recently as the RNLI closed down the station. As I am a member of the Lifeboat 24-7 forum (http://www.lifeboats24-7.co.uk/forum) and sympathise with the upset of the crew at the closure I decided to build a model of their boat as a tribute to the superb work these volunteers do to save lives at sea.

This first picture shows the radar mast in its extended position and the important parts for folding marked.

The first thing to be done is to release the clips and fold down the upper mast on its pivot towards the starboard side of the boat. Also the radar scanner MUST BE across the beam of the boat NOT fore and aft or it will not fit into the gap when folded!

The locking pins (see pic 1) are removed and the Port side of the spray screen is folded forwards.
The mast is then pulled out of its clamps towards the stern of the boat and folds down to give minimum projection above the wheelhouse roof.

This last picture shows the mast almost folded flat as seen from the side.

Cheers    Mike    True Mersey Lifeboat Nutter!!!!!
