Coating question
« on: July 30, 2012, 05:03:16 pm »

Hello Everyone!

Question, does anyone have any experience or recommendations on what type of sealant or coating to put on the topside roof? On my tug I get the occasional splattering of oil, etc. The roof is a cotton material that has been painted with floquil. Ideally I would like to coat with a sealant or some other coating that will make clean up easy.

I should have been a little more clear in my first post. The picture is obviously not a tug. It's a model of a type of steam ferry that plied the lake and coastal waters of New England. The aforementioned tug is another model that when run, gets the splattering of oil, etc. As the ferry is already painted I am looking for something that will be clear, flat sheen and easy to clean and protect the current finish so I don't have the same problem as with the tug.

To prevent water damage I use a spray on lacquer. I don't know if this helps keep oil and stuff away.

Could you put your location in your profile please , then folks will know where you are and the availability of local materials.
