flap/gear on-off switch to on-off-on
« on: October 10, 2009, 07:35:43 pm »

Does anyone know if it's possible to change a flap/gear on-off switch to a on-off-on switch and if so how to go about it?

I don't fully understand how the signals work but I was assuming that with the on-off switch it's giving full signal one way or the other, so presumably to get a mid point (off) I'd need to have a resister with a value the same as the at rest resistance of the potentiometers on the other channels?

Thanks for the help!

Not that easy, mate.

1. Take the back off the Tx and count the wires to the switch............ 2.
2. Have a look at a 3-way centre=off switch. Number of contacts? 3.
3. 3 into 2 won't go.
4. You can swap a 3-way switch for a rotary knob, but the channels which use 2-way switches are not adaptable.

My mate PMK found a way of hacking into and reprogramming the software which allocates the channels to the input devices on his Futaba, but he's now left the building - and it was strictly for super-teccies anyway. Ripmax have told me it's a no-go on Futaba sets, and I've had the same message from Amerang (Hitec) and Horizon Hobbies (Spektrum).

Sorry, but please don't duplicated the wasted time I've already spent trying to do this!

Ah ok, I was going to try using on of the wires going to pin 1, the same wire plus a resistor to pin 2 and then the other wire to pin 3. I guess i'll look into getting a new transmitter.

Futaba then?       Just a lucky bluff.

I'm guessing it is less than two years old.
Am I right?

Spectrum DX6, don't even know if the dx7 has on-of-on ones.
