Identity of Steam Engine
« on: May 16, 2010, 10:30:57 am »

Hi, a friend recently bought a steam launch at auction. Hopefully there is a photo of the engine attached and somebody can identify it for us. My guess is that it was made from plans or a kit as the cylinder block is a one piece casting but much of the rest looks home made although very well done. Main difference from most engines is that it has a large flywheel between the cylinders rather than at one end of the crank. We know that the boat was operational before 1980 if that helps to date things. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Ian.
