Almost there!!
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:33:27 pm »

I have just connected up the prop shaft so I am one step closer to the launch day :D.
Two steps back as I have had to strip down the water feed pump as the gearing slowed the pump down too much :(( :((.

How did you gear the pump?
Nice work with the boat & engine, b.t.w.

The pump was geared 10:1 (you can see it on an earlier video) as the original used a 4:1 ration I should have known better however it was worth the try as I had the gears available. :((

A work of art- the whole boat together looks very realistic, a few details and this launch could be really top class, the plant is very well made. You do seem to be passing quite a bit of water past the hand feed pump ram though.

Hi firedup

A really nice job considering that it's your first scratch built hull and steam plant, well done.
No doubt as it's still a work in progress you will cure the few drips on the hand pump before the whole job is complete.
To scratch build the hull, make your own boiler and machine the engine with the Stevenson revers is no mean feat CONGRAT'S, there are not a lot of steam modelers who can produce such a nice project.
George.

Thank you for the very positive comments ,support and help.
Bye the way Steamboat Phil I enjoyed spending a good part of my visit to Temple Park talking to you very informative I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the Ambassadorial role you take on for those interested in steam.
You did mention a useful book I think with reference to high speed steam clearly I have lost the scrap of paper could you help?
