Sea Queen Scale?
« on: December 29, 2010, 11:56:28 pm »

Me again! Back bugging people about my dad's Sea Queen.

I'm looking for fittings now and I was wondering what scale the Sea Queen is? It's 46" but I have no idea what scale it would be.

As a helper for myself I'll put a list of things I'm after :)

Portholes
Fairleads
Bollards
Vent Cowls
Rail Stanchions
Lights(!?)
Anchor Chain & Winch
Liferafts

There is no scale stated for the Sea Queen.

I would suggest you measure from the cockpit floor to the middle of the windscreen and make that the height of the crew member, and work the scale out from that.

Hi woody. the popular Precedent' Fairey Huntsman' model kit is available from Anglia Model Centre in two hull sizes (34" and 46"). The kits are scaled to approximately represent the later Huntsman 31 built by Fairey Marine in the 1960's +. Several Fairey designs were adapted for offshore racing and Fairey enlarged their original 28 foot Huntsman hull to create a 31 foot hull version with a reworked/widened stern to enable a second rear cabin and increased the flare/deck area at the bow.
The Sea Queen model is broadly similar in size and form to the Precedent Huntsman 46". The info above does show that the Precedent model is approx 1:8 scale and your SQ model is quite similar in proportion. Hopefully  %), this comparison  will help you to source or size the fittings you need.

woody, I suppose you're talking about the Aerokits model. There's no full scale counterpart, so dicky's suggestion is a good one.
Concerning fittings, everything on your list (maybe excepting life rafts) is available in good assortment from Cornwall Model Boats.

Thanks all, good idea Dicky!

1:8 sounds about right to me Perkasaman.

Yep the Aerokits one Cosmic, although this one is from Keelkraft. Was checking out CMBoats and I got fed up with the wat the fittings are listed, I don't know what range I want it from so I'm having to trawl through the lot of 'em :/
