reinforce the pump by additional pieces of foam boards...fill all gaps with thinned car body filler....fix a flange under the lid, so it will stand, upright nicely...

fix an exhaust pipe, according to your need but make sure it is the same dia of the tube that we used on to the pump....and you can take the exhaust smoke where you need by a silicon tube...means, we can fix this unit at stearn, and can take the out put to bow...by a silicon tube...
fix the cap back...

now...connect the pump to battery...or to a speed controller...if you have a speed controller, you can set the smoke , according to your needs...a speed controller can be made at home with half a dollar....by MJE 3055 transistor...and all things here shown by me is only a key...you can do according to your ideas....

I would never have  thought about using incense sticks for a smoke generator. That's a very simple and clever generator - brilliant. O0

Thanks Rathi for the idea...

Martin, by using a system like this we can save a lots of battery life and mess  along with cost...all given ideas is according to my plan and handy things around me..but you can choose anything that with you to make one...so i am also waiting for many ideas from you all....we can also use a thicker stic, so will get a greater amount of smoke...

and i am going o give you an even more simple way to get an even more BLACK NASTY SMOKE.....but i not preffer it..but you can try...so here.. light the stick first..allow it to heat up for some seconds..then take some oil, eg: 20W40, and for even more black EP120  engine oils, in a bowl, then dip a metal rod in oil, and spread it, just under the burning point of the stick..please dont wet it with oil..because it will blows off...repeat this until you reach the bottom of the stick...and recap instantly..and start the motor...if not the stick will blows off..then you can see a wild smoke with a wild smell...blackish...swirlish...but to me the normal stick is far enough...its simple ..yes...?  so you can save a lots of money...and with that saved money..no..i need nothing..hi...hi..but you can make another craft...make crafts...make crafts...and on..and on..and on....so have a nice craft....hi...hi...

Hi Rachu,
I also had the idea of using incense sticks for my little 1:48th scale 1864 paddle steamer last year, but not finished yet, and no where close to being as efficient as yours. Tried to get it all into the scale boiler as only the fore and after deck are enclosed. The boiler sits in the middle of the main deck. The incense stick goes into the funnel inside the aluminium tube with the holes in the second picture. Also has a red LED in the firebox, and 3 AA NiMH batteries inside the boiler
Love your generator, and may modify mine to incorporate some of your ideas, that is if you don't mind
Keep these projects coming please. Refreshingly simple
cheers

Absolutely brilliant. I am saving this so I can add one to my Steam tug....Simple it may be but it took a very special talent to think of it.. :-)) :-))

I have just watched your film of incense burning in the tube and wondered about a few things.

Does the burning create any ash ?
Does this blow away in the draught or collect at the bottom ?
Does the stick burn down quicker with the draught ?
How long does a stick last ?
What is the stick made of ?
Does the lovely odour (smell & smoke) rise or fall across the lake ?

I think you are very clever and wonder if you have time to sleep.   :}  Keep those ideas coming. We enjoy them

regards

If I may be so bold, I'll attempt to answer some of these questions:

Quote
Does the burning create any ash ?
yes, that's what the atomiser/ heat sink / ash tray is for (photos 22,25,26)

Quote
Does this blow away in the draught or collect at the bottom ?
judging from the video Rachu so graciously posted, (I know, I know, I'm 'brown nosing', but hey, with talent like Hers, I just can't help it!  :})  I'd say it all collects in atomiser/ heat sink / ash tray

Quote
Does the stick burn down quicker with the draught ?
you'd think it would burn a bit faster, but I guess it would depend on how fast you're running the blower

Quote
Does the lovely odour (smell & smoke) rise or fall across the lake ?
from what I remember of my NBC training, that would depend on the atmospheric conditions

Good morning ...and sure i was waiting for the discussions...so we will get even more good ideas...Kenny, the incense Stoic is made out of dusts from, wooden saw dust, dried medicinal leaves, dried medicinal roots and some dried medicinal shrubs...and some added fragrances, like sandal oil, or some oils from flowers.some artificial compounds may also seen. but here we get all sticks from local manufacturers for our temple...so there must be some ashes...that is why i added a flange, by aluminium sheet, in that lid, and you also can see the configuration of the bottle is upside down, why..? yes to dismantle the lid for removing the ashes...but some of the ashes will blows off through the exhaust tube as blower blows towards out...so only a negligible amount of ash is left for...

the timing of the stick is based on the type of stic, length of stic and the velocity of the blower at the time...by my set up here with one stick i am getting more than 20 minutes at moderate speed of blowing...

and if we want to make a deep black violent smoke, just drop some engine oil, just under the burning point of the stick...so you will get a nasty coloured smoke and huge in quantity...

and when compared to a commercial smoke generator, here we aren't using any corrosive, poisonous, or dangerous material for smoke...so never consider this smell as ODOUR...its a Devinne FRAGRANCE and not a smell...and also healthy..we daily use ample of sticks at home...it can eradicate mosquitoes and flies that spreads dieseas...and another great advantage is the saving of battery life....so here, all my ideas is only a key...means its not meant for a direct copy...but all you can go for with your idea...its too simple and effective...the amount of smoke can be increased by adding the numbers of sticks...so wait a little...i will Post a good video soon of my new craft with X bow...there must be this same smoke generator to make smoke on it...have a nice craft...
