Unidentified model just added to my collection
« on: February 01, 2012, 11:58:09 am »

Can any members identify this model for me please - it is 36" long x 9" beam. It has an open well
over which I will need to build either a small well deck or a hatch type cover?
Any suggestions will be most helpful.
I hope my photo has uploaded!?
Thanks.

Looks very like a motorsailer from the Nauticat yacht builders.  Not fast but great seaboats will take you anywhere.  Proabably describe it as the
land rover of yachts.
By the way I think the mast should be the other way round so the boom is facing aft to fit the mainsail - also most nauticats were ketch rigged so there
should be a mizzen mast to finish it off

"Cynette" by S Jewitt  scale model of a Fleur de Lys class originally by Daglass of Wisbeach.

  MM/494 MHS plans?

Hi Ian,
You have led me to identifying my boat by way of MHStore plans. Thank you.
It is known as Cygnette plan MM762.

Was just coming back to alter the ref No. Yes it's 762  T'other is Tarpon.

Sadly, MHS is suffering from dyslex ----- can't spull, as the author called it Cynette on the original plan and construction artical in the ModelMaker back in 63.

MHS and T'internet are not the best bedfellows.

Hi Ian,

Co-incidentally I also have a unfinished Tarpon!

I have posted pictures of it on this site - you will find it under a "Tarpon" search if interested.

I was trying at that time to identify 'it' too!

I have now ordered the plans for the CyGnette as I have to establish what to do
with the open area behind the wheelhouse superstructure - costing me a fortune already!
Regards,
Peter

Is it me, or has the cabin sunk into the hull somewhat?
Nice looking boat, wouldn't mind a real one :-))

Frank---

Yes, the cabin area has sunk a little - there is a missing link between it and the cabin, to support it.
I'm working on this (shortly when weather warms up)
The real thing costs North of 190K  - perhaps next year!

Peteg.
