make a simple crane for your crafts..
« on: February 04, 2012, 04:08:04 pm »

Friends..there must not be anyone, who like to fix a working crane to his or her's craft..but all we know even a smaller working crane is very expensive..so, it is not feasible to sit up, like a cat sitting in front of a meat shop, with mouthful of water..so, turn to work table..its all easy..all we know, a basic 4 channel radio is far enough for ship and boat modeling, as we can use the two channels as throttle and steering, while other two can use to blow a horn, switch on a light or to control a thrust pump..but if it goes to a 6 channel, it will be even better..nowadays a 6 channel radio is far inexpensive than a mobile phone..but, usualy, two of our channels always kept free of use..so, its time to think about a simple but effective working crane..and it will be very interesting to see, while in operation at water..cool..and inspiring..

and now, all we know the micro servos are even inexpensive, so it is so inexpensive than a EP 30 gearbox..but works well..so, what we need here to make a working crane..?  only two micro servos, for scale from 1: 48, 1:35, 1:28,and 1:26th..but can use standard servos for bigger scale and heavier applications..here we are using the unsued two channels of our radio, or can use any channels up to us..and with a three channel we can also activate the hold mechanism..

so at first we can make a simple crane with two channels..

take two micro servos..any weight and any make..

make sure the servos are good..we can also power up servos, but here it need not..

Friends...from here all istructions are based on my imaginatios..so you can add anything on your cranes, and in to any shape you desire..the shown roots are only a key..

now take a piece of foam board, in to 2 mm thick..place the servo, while leaving some space all around..mark it..

now draw a circle in foam board, just greater than that of the base we added..
it is the base portion to glue to the servo flange later..
