1/12 Severn
« on: May 29, 2013, 09:40:27 pm »

Hi everybody
I am building a speedline 1/12 severn and I am using the plans from the rnli
And Adrian says that the measurements on the plan should be times by 1.66 but if I scanned
The part of the plan I was working on and enlarged it by 1.66 would that then give me the correct
Size for the hand rails in 1/12 scale for me then to print out

Thanks
Paul

Having been there and done that on my Trent,
It is a lot easier and better all round to have the
whole plan enlarged to 1/12, rather than parts of it.
then you can form and build whatever
to the plan. It is very easy to forget the x 1.666 when
engrossed in building believe me.

I have a set of Severn plans from the RNLI, courtesy of our own Tug Kenny :-))  and one sheet is to 1/25 while the others are to 1/20 {:-{  I't a project that's been on the back burner for quite a while now, but the time is growing closer. I will build it to 1/20 scale, so I will need to have the 1/25 sheet re-sized.

Good luck with your Speedline build Paul, and I look forward to some photos.

If you take the measurement from the drawing x it by the scale that will give you full size then divide by 12 so on the 1/20th scale drawing,

20mm x 20 =400mm / by 12 =33.3mm. if the have the drawings blown up to 1/12th scale you need to check them before excepting as true scale, the hulls are or should be within a 1mm tolerance, so take that measurement with you and check the drawing if its not right? get them to adjust it, also if you do have them done remember that the drawing line will also be bigger, so go from the centre of the line not the outer edge.
