New kit company??
« on: January 08, 2013, 07:35:09 pm »

http://skipsmodeller.altiweb.no/prosjekter/39-north-landnorth-isle
This looks interesting! A norwegian company I´ve never heard of before is´planning to make wooden kits. One is already released, a small fishing vessel. A beautiful cargo liner and a norwegian roadferry is coming, click the buttons with the boats names to see them. If you look at the "Northland" there is a link to a thread that shows a build of the prototype kit of the cargoliner, looks very nice.
Better keep an eye on how this develops.
All the best!

Thanks for the link Hama, the models look stunning, if the kit quality is that good, they will be very successful I think, I know I would be very interested in their kits. They should have the web site in English as well if possible, Mick B.

I agree they do look good, and something different! As you say Mick the firm should translate into English. The only word I understand is "balsa" so maybe they could be static models perhaps?

beautiful models...........sadly though I'd make a pig's ear out of a planke on frame build as you have probably seen with my plugs for grp...........hopefully they might make grp hulls from the more popular ones.......lovely models though.

Well, beeing swedish I have no problem to understand norwegian so I can translate for you. Perhaps I can mail them and ask about international orders and release dates? I´ve found that there is a netshop at http://www.skipsmodeller.com/nettbutikk/ where they sell there own and other products. As far as I can see they have two models of their own at the moment, fishing vessel "Follabuen" at NOK 3300 and a small sailing yacht at NOK 1295. Wonder what the cargo liner will be? They also sell ready built display models.
In sweden there is a company called http://www.atlastmodels.se/en/products.html , they also make wooden kits and their site is in english!!
Didnt realize that my location in the profile disapeared in the big meltdown, so I´ll go right away and fix it.
All the best!

thank you hama...........could you also ask them seriously whether they would consider making an option to buy the models with a GRP/fibre glass hull rather than plank on frame...........as that is the only thing that would put me off building a model.....I can't do plank on frame in any decent finish without bucket loads of filler.

thanks Neil.

If you click on the original link then highlight the address in the top bar, right click and select the option search with google, and then in the search results click on the translate this page.
