Veron Police Launch
« on: February 03, 2014, 10:23:28 am »

Does anyone know if there was ever a construction guide to accompany
the plan drawing for this Veron model please.

I haven't ever done a scratch build so some sort of guide would be pretty
 essential for me.
Thanks..

You could try contacting Colin Smith, the designers son who holds his late fathers plan collection. It cropped up on another forum and was suggested that it was quite likely that the Police launch info was available.

Limited boat plans available from Colin Smith, Bournemouth Tel: 07747722724,
give him a ring he has lots of his fathers VERON plans(boats + planes)

Seem to recall the boat was built around a box structure with the formers added after the box was all glued together. Similar construction on Veron RTTL

If you are building from a modern copy of the plans you need to check the accuracy of the bulkheads. When I built mine it went "pear "shaped and I had to redo the basic structure. Another example of the old saying "measure twice Cut (or stick)once" >>:-( .Other than that it went together very well.

If you're referring to the instructions that were included with the kit then it's these from an original kit that I have.

Hope it helps!

Mark - Many thanks! Thats the sort of instructions that I thought
would likely accompany the plans and kit even.
Brilliant.

Chris, can you tell me a bit more where the trouble was please?
Check the accuracy against --- ? Because I have read elsewhere that there were
a few questions regarding 'accuracy'.
Thanks

Mark - Many thanks!

That's ok - glad I could help (& it gave me the opportunity to take another look at the fabulous artwork on the box).

Didn't they do good 'stuff' back then!
 Very nice.
Hope to start on one very soon once I can get back out into
the workshop.
Do you still sail yours?

Yes - some fabulous models back then although, in truth, that the quality of the kit components was fairly poor generally...

Mine's a project (amongst many others) & is still in the box but I'm looking forward to it one day.

Good luck with yours & post some images if you get a chance.

I will do that. But it will be a little while yet.
Looking forward to it though.

Hi there, the main problem was that the rear bulkheads were slightly distorted and not symmetrical. So cut a template of one half of the bulkhead and compare it with the other half. Any discrepancy in overall width can be checked with the plan view of the model. Other than that it went together very easily. I built the hull in a week when I was off sick from work (there’s only so much daytime TV you can stand)! :o
Cheers Chris.
