Hi.  My first post to the forum which, I must say, seems a very friendly place.

I now have time on my hands and am looking for a new modelling direction with a bit of "meat" to it after 50-odd years modelling aircraft (static and flying), ships, cars, railways etc.  I have always been attracted to model boats and ships and feel that modelling them could give me a lot of pleasure.

I enjoy problem-solving and using the brain box and ingenuity to overcome modelling hurdles and rather fancy getting into r/c boats. I am looking for a first kit that will give me a reasonable challenge without being totally impossible to finish.   I should add here that I am a firm believer in just getting stuck into things and quite like going into things towards the middle of the pool rather than paddling about in the shallows.

A scan of various online retailers tends me towards Caldercraft's "Milford Star" as I love the look of working craft of that era and I get the feeling that I could end up with a really nice model.  My plan would be to build it "stock" from the box as a first project without getting too hung-up on extra detailing.  I'd really welcome quick thoughts on the pros and cons of this kit as a first foray into the r/c boat world please.
