Car crash
« on: December 26, 2018, 08:28:15 am »

Some of you will have seen in the past me mentioning my son training as a paramedic? Well once he qualified after years spent as a nurse, he got stationed 25 miles away to a place on the coast called Withernsea (east of Hull) Yesterday Xmas Day going to work for a 12 hour shift he crashed his car on black ice on a country road. He was embarrassed that personnel from the station he was travelling to were sent out to the accident scene. Fortunately he climbed out without help and declined help from them, however he travelled back to Hull with the recovery truck and attended hospital where apart from a few cuts and bruises he had nothing serious, the car of course didn't fare so well it being a write off.
He's been stood down until the weekend but now has to try and buy another car before saturday, but all in all I think looking at it, he got of bloody lightly! When he sent the photo last night my wife was distraught and would have got a plane back to the UK  if she could have! He's 28 years old but according to her he's still our baby :embarrassed:

Glad that your son is OK after that accident.  Isn't it testament to how well built modern cars are that he escaped without serious injury?

With the driver protection in modern cars,
you would expect no less in a collision less
accident.
The 1033 is a black ice nightmare as soon as the temperature plummets.
Worked for a Withernsea based company for a few years. A trip in the winter was the Black ice A15 to
the bridge, the nightmare A63 then Hedon road to more black ice.

Just got through speaking to him on Skype, he's aching all over today but nothing more serious. He's scouring evans halshaw for a replacement and hoping he can get them to bring it to him by friday - good luck with that O0 Thanks for your concern everyone and Ned you are right, because all the roads on north and south bank are surrounded by hedgerows means they are a nightmare of black ice at this time of the year given the right conditions. In some respects I'm glad it was his car, it could have been far worse if he was on blue lights in an ambulance.

Even worse if they had a passenger
