New member - old boat
« on: March 21, 2022, 12:26:41 pm »

Hi I've just joined as I've brought this boat that is only a few years younger than me and will be looking for ideas and advice restoring it and fitting radio control.
It is a Graupner condor 1 non remote version fitted with a TKK Mabuchi 65 motor, but it is unusual in having a rounded bridge and a brass funnel all other photos I have found of this model have a square cut Bridge and smaller painted funnels and a fore deck hatch.
Apart from the paint on the Hull which needs stripping off to bare wood it is in good condition with just a porthole and cleat missing and mast to repair.

This may be of interest   https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2622484-Graupner-Condor

I did smile at his reference to it being the most expensive  model at 35.5 DM in '59 as I recall a Pound and 6 pence at that time was worth 12 marks
