Flysky fs-i6x
« on: June 28, 2022, 05:58:46 pm »

Hi all

Just ordered a Flysky fs-i6x.

Could I just ask if anyone else is using this system and what do you think. I plan to use a Mtroniks speed controller with it. Are there any problems setting this up. From what I can tell all the switches including the throttle have to be in the down position when switching the unit on. I think this is some sort of safeguard for plane and helicopters users.

However when normally setting up a Mtroniks esc you need to have the throttle in the centre so switching on with the throttle fully down would be a problem.

Just be interested in any problems setting up. I like the 20 memory that the transmitter has and the ability to alter a lot of the settings. I have also read that there are modules available for battery monitoring in the boat.

Any information appreciated. :-))

Thanks

I haven't got one (yet) but I was going to be getting one soon. I was interested the telemetry aspects of it.

That's an interesting question regarding the throttle position as I have a lot of mtroniks equipment & was planning to fit mine with an optional centering spring kit so I'd also be interested to hear from anyone else if this is a problem.

Hi Reg

They seem to be good value and there are plenty of reviews on YouTube, but mainly geared towards planes and helicopters. I bought mine off of fleabay with a 10 channel receiver for £59 delivered.
Looking forward to getting it, but concerned about setting up the Mtroniks. I am sure I have seen some Mayhemers using them, so there must be a way.

Thanks

For self centering you can by an aditional part for a few bucks in overseas.

<-- just an example
I have it and I have the i6x but got a second i6s short after so I didn't mount it yet.

Hi,I have one and have found it great, not as complex as some but plenty of settings to tweak (which i haven't much needed to really) - I only use 2ch but maybe one day i may use more!

I converted mine to self centred for the throttle using the kit (bit fiddly to do).I also bought a battery monitor sensor for the telemetry and it seems to work fine.

Yes, when you turn the Tx on you have to put the throttle down before the main screen shows but that's ok because then you turn the Rx on and it syncs with the selected model (obviously you have to bind the Tx and Rx together and I think set the max/min throttle settings for the Mtronics ESC).

If the Tx came with an Rx then it usually comes already bound to it.

Cheers,Mark

I always use just the right control for both throttle and rudder - always have since I got my first 4 channel set ok2 , so the position of the left stick is not an issue for me.
There is just one peculiarity of this TX - you sometimes have to use the cancel button to accept a setting. It's not clear in the manual, and not consistent either %% %% %%

Thank for the advice.

Have ordered the self cantering upgrade from Aliexpress.

Mark thanks for your answers. After you switch the transmitter on with the throttle down. Could you then centre the throttle before you switch on the receiver as then the Mtroniks esc could setup as normal.

Thanks again for all the reply’s. It is appreciated.

Hi Alan,

Yes, I think that's what i did - just guessed where the mid point would be - just keep fingers/anything else out of the way of the prop if not quite right!
As Barrie says, a long press of Cancel = "Save", rather counter intuitive.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Mark

I will give it a try when it arrives. Pity there is no Boat graphics on the screen. Seems like only planes and helicopters.

Thanks

I highlighted the centre mark on the left hand ratcheted stick with white paint so I can easily hit the centre point. Stick needs to be fully down to turn on the Tx (otherwise it just shouts at you!) then centre the stick before turning on the Rx. i have always used the left hand stick up and down for throttle, with the ratchet you can leave the speed set and concentrate on controlling the boat, right hand stick left and right for steering.

Had no problem with Mtronics ESC, I tend to use the plug and play version as they save having to fiddle around setting them up.

Hi Mike

Thanks very much for the reply. That’s a big help. I thought that would be the case, but it’s nice that you have confirmed that.
I have a ratchet throttle on the Mooring tug and as you say it takes the stress of maintaining the throttle all the time.

Thanks again for the reply. It is appreciated. :-)) :-))

probably a bit late now, but i had the Flysky i6s (10 channel) TX which has the self centering stick so no need to have it in the down position when switching on.

its was a very good transmitter for the price, it also came with a phone/tablet holder so you could attach your device to it & record video from your device hands free which was a great touch. Was very simple to setup.

The only reason why i sold it not long ago because since i bought this TX i have also bought a Futaba T6K & also a T14SG for my planes, so im now using the T6K for my boats/surface models :)
