suppression of electric motors

HI.Iknow this subject has been covered before.But i am still unsure how to do this.I have fitted to a RS545 6volt motor to my boat Highlander.I need to know the following.What size capacitor do i need and also the voltage.Does it matter which way round its connected.Do i just use one across the motor terminals.I am new to modellig so any help would be great.Regards Paddysdad

The capacitor values and placings are correct on that link BUT DO NOT USE A DIODE IF YOU INTEND TO USE A CONTROLLER THAT HAS REVERSE.
Most shops dealing in R/C will sell supression kits with appropriate values.  The actual capacitor values depend on the frequency that you are trying to supress, rather than the power of the motor, and the lowest working voltage of the capacitors is higher than the vast majority of models use, so one size fits all.
