Looks good to me. I will definitely consider one for my next model. 2.4 ghz  at that price seems good to me.

Yes I think the DX5e is a good buy for boat modellers, though that's a first impression.   I'm in the process of writing a review for MB which will give a bit more detail!   It's got all the bits most people need without the bells and whistles and menu-driven programming of the DX6 or DX6i.

It's available from the usual on and off line shops other than ebay at a very similar price.

Yes 2.4GHz does seem good to me - However it seems to take only 4 batteries and all my other TX's take 8 for 9.6v... Does not sem right??

It would be nice to have a model memory and more channels for lights etc...

This is (according to Spektrum) because the new electronics package needs less power and lower voltage than the older TXs.   I'll have a better idea about that when I've got the review TX in my hands.   IMHO it's a beneficial change as it means spare batteries are simple including alkaline AA cells.  No need to buy a second special pack.

If you want the extras you mention then the DX6 is what you need.   6 channels (5 and 6 are switches) and 10 nameable model memories.   Lots of other goodies as well accessed by a menu system.   See review in MB for more info.

One daft question...  :D  :o  ::)

Does the throttle stick have to self centre... or is it a matter of preference.. or if you want reverse...

Hi Stobby

If you're referring to the Spektrum sets then they come with the throttle channel non-self-centring.    Unless you're worried about the fail safe then you just use the other vertical stick axis for throttle.    Other things can be done (swap sticks over) but they involve opening the case.    Getting bits to change the self-centring is difficult as it seems that the only ones that exist are from scrap TX units.

Thanks for the info guys,might get one cos i only need to turn left/right/backwards/forwards for the moment,might put sound board in at a later dont want to spend silly money on first rc.
I have got no intentions of flying helicopters so dont need one that can do the washing and make cup of tea.
thats if the boat floats first

Thanks guys !  just wondered what peoples preferences were - self centering if you want reverse...?? I take it if it dont self centre thenforget reverse... :embarrassed:

See... my idea is to sell the FF6 and the HiTec 40MHz and go 2.4GHz... but it will have to be futaba as I will need it to buddy lead to my FF7 while my son learns aerobatics (and I learn to fly!)  - Me = Engineer, Son = pilot! O0  Dont want to go 2.4 yet for all my aircraft as that 4 receivers...

PS Who is that nice cap that looks like Kenny Rogers...? ;)
