Oh I'll send them Stavros, and as the weather will be bright and sunny with flat calm water (oh yeah right !!!) I'll run the fast steamers.
There is camping on site Bill, and I have put a few boats on display in the past. The site does not usually open until the 1st June, but in the past they have opened up the camp site for the Mayhemers weekend ( I think Martin speaks nicely to the local club, who have a chat with the park) Will you be chatting nicely to the local club again Martin ?
Dates in diary, work told to b****r off for that weekend, Bring on the fun  :-))

Ah well Stav thats all part of the plan, boat flies away towards pegs, turns, knocks the scorer senseless so he gives me 10000 points in dazed concussion and I win, can't possibly go wrong %)

But you see my friend when the scorer is concussed he cant remeber what the score was and he will definatly not be able to catch the wee little beasty and what you end up with is a splattered boat

Chin up Phil. I may get to see Andy's boat. If the price was right I could make a few minor adjustments ££££££££.
Tried out the Zclass this afternoon with a limited amount of success.  It don't make much noise, Go on let me have a run with it at Wicksteed park.
In the mean time dose anyone have room in the show tent to put the Makara & Hydro on Display??  As I can't run it i will have to be happy with showing it and some DVD's of OMRA racing.
Any News from Ty land Phil?

Ive got something much better for the springers this year, one of these.

Dont mind at all if it gets broken, which it most likely will. Advantage being we can pack it with various heavy objects such as bricks and stones etc

If I can't have IC on the water, you CERTAINLY won't be allowed to give free haircuts with that  {-) {-)

PS Wonder if Martin could use his influence to let us have a 5 minute 'on the water' demo of your Z and my AA?  They're both pretty quiet and could get round on that pond easily. I wouldn't want to try it with anything bigger though  :o

Talkiing of Haircut's Danny. "THE HAIRY ONE" (Andy) at long last been given gas and air and his locks have been shortend.  However due to the credit crunch  they could only go to  the collar line, Alass he was comming round and they had run out of gas. Can we get a whip round to finish the job off.

I'll be bringing a couple of IC straight (sic) runners that I might (ney will) sneak onto the water (Z class with out the radio--fun fun fun)

Re Tai Land (bad spelling) Bill, I have a meeting soon (still all hush hush you know----show no one the photo's, unless money changes hands and we have enough for a few beers)

Bit of an update on the straight runner, umm well it doesnt work....

Went up and down happily for a bit, then I decided it needed some left trim, gave it some and it went around in circles.

We then laughed for a good long while as it coontinued to go round in circles, with the chairmans minesweeper crashing into it, trying to knock it in the right direction (read crashing into it). After about 10 mins the battery went flat so we got it with the fishing rod

Worked well I thought {-)

Sorry to say I will not be able to make it again. I am compelled to visit England in early May for a family day and again in June for the mother-in-law's 90th. So fitting in Wicksteed is just not on. Damn and blast, I was so looking forward to meeting you all in person.

However, the compensation is I have had a kind invite to a week of modelling and sailing by the French club in Roquefort sur Mere (not the cheese place!). They take over a set of chalets for a weeks accommodation and have various sailing and boat oriented events. Not sure I can go all week as my wife is not that keen! However, at 75€ for a chalet for the week it is great value.

For the poor unfortunates amongst us who can't afford a tent/caravan/motorhome  <:( <:(
does anyone remember if there are any B&B's/hotels/travelodges within staggering distance of the park?
I only live 30 mins away, but would like to partake of the evenings festivities without having to remain teetotal for driving  :police:

If not I will still be coming both days with my little OMRA AA boat, and of course I couldn't leave the bear behind (ooh - matron!!)  ;D

A kind and generous offer Brian, many thanks.  The real reason for the lack of tent is not really financial - but if I were to sleep in the open nowadays, I'd be so stiff next day you could use me as a barge for the Springer towing contest!!
So I'm afraid I will just have to "rough it" in a warm, dry, comfy bed once more .....
Such is life  %)

The Wicksteed Park webpage gives the campsite opening date as 22nd May (they must have seen you coming...).
I've booked in at the Travelodge so I can attend on Saturday for the fun and games, leave the boats with someone (who isn't going to get drunk and take them for a "midnight sail") (as if you would...), return for the evening "table roast", stagger (or more likely get a taxi) back and snore the night away to awake refreshed and minus hangover  %) ready for the usual 'cursing inthe rain' Sunday event  :-))
Sounds idylic, doesn't it!  Can't wait.

I will be there for certian on Saturday. Stavros, did you say you could bring a Gazibo /Tent that i can use to show my Petrol Boat?
If not is there space in someone eles tent? Floor space for the Makara will be fine and 1/4 of a table for my Hydro.
PS Phil. Try and use a VHF radio mike as UHF mikes get upset on gen sets. (think back to Llanberis) and I have found the same prob with my PA kit.  I am sure you have a VHF set but if you dont I can bring mine to use.

Given that everyone and anyone will be coming, with a vast variety of boats and other strange floating objects, what sort of timetabling structure are you putting in place to ensure that everyone gets a chance to get their bottoms wet? (No doubt the rain will take care of their tops!)

Only in general terms. Like which activities can you have going on simultaneously on different parts of the lake? Also maybe it would be an idea to try and get some advance indication of numbers and who has 2.4 Radios as opposed to those which will need to be subject to frequency control.

Maybe one way to do this would be to set up two survey topics. One could list the activities such as free sailing (power), free sailing (sail) Springer Footy, Straight Running, Speed etc. and then you would see just how welll each one would be likely to be supported and can allocate time accordingly. Of course a number of people are likely to be involved in more than one activity - can the survey deal with that?

The other survey could just list the radio types, 2.4ghz, 40mhz & 27 mhz which will give some idea of how likely you are to get potential frequency clashes.

I also think that the frequency board should be "bookable"  with say 20 minute sessions for free sailing with somebody in charge of it rather than just allowing people to grab a peg and possibly hang on to it. Obviously if there is a structured activity taking place on part of the lake, such as Springer Footy, Racing or Tug Towing then people participating in that would have first call on the frequency board during the time set aside for that activity.

Just common sense really.

Colin

Martin, what I meant was to group the models in the way they will be sailed. Warships, Service Craft, Tugs, Lifeboats, Trawlers will all be free sailing models. You need to know what provision to make for the "organised" parts of the event for which you will need to reserve all or part of the lake. For example, (you have already mentioned some):

Springer & Springer Football,
Straight Running,
Club 500 racing heats,
Other electric speed
Warships display.
Tug competition and display, (Towing?)
Footy and Yacht races,
IC boat demo/race (Inc OMRA boats) - probably needs to be Saturday PM from what people have posted
Footy Yacht Race
Steering competition?
Twilight sail past with lights on Saturday evening

All this lot will take up quite a bit of time and space and some, such as the IC boats will need exclusive use of the lake. Whatever time is left over can be devoted to free sailing with a managed frequency board.

You do need a realistic schedule otherwise some people could turn up and find that they can't find a slot to run their boat(s). It may be Mayhem, but you can't afford a free for all like the scrum at a Ryanair Boarding Gate!

I'm bringing
One "AA class (3.5cc)" OMRA racing boat on 2.4 GHz for the "demo" (how to fit a 43" boat into a Tesco carrier bag)
Two "C class" (15cc) OMRA boats for display only  <:(
Will there be any space in anyone's shelter (I can bring a small table)?

I'm assuming that the IC demo will only be about 10 mins but I'm afraid Colin is right - I wouldn't want to risk any other boats on the water (except Bill and Andy as they are used to lunatic driving)!

I plan on bringing a few craft, notably, Waverley, Boston Typhoon, WaveSpringerly, and anything else the car will hold.

I'm also hoping to buy a gazebo and portable table and a chair to keep me out of the rain.  :embarrassed:

Unfortunatly, Red Pelican will not be coming as she has been sold to a submarine enthusiast, so I'll have to think of something else to sink. (bring your waders, Phil!) I hope to stay in the hotel that I used last time as the food was delicious and it's quite close.

Hello,

I NEED to know how deep is the water in the pool at Wicksteed.
My Schooner, Bluenose needs at LEAST 18 inches of water to sail in.
Has anybody ever sailed a Marblehead yacht there?, they have a longer keel than the Schooner.
Would any of the local boat Club members be able to help?

Further to my mentioning an Hotel, I have been asked which one I used last time.

It is called 'The Comfort Hotel Royal' and it's located in the centre of Kettering. Here is their Web site ...

http://www.activehotels.com/hotel/brochure/en/218698?subid=PPCGH1hn218698en

The rooms are from £45, but there are only £50 ones left. I thought I might go up on the Friday night, so as to be sure of getting to the lake before dinner time. It is after all. 1.5 miles away.  %) and I shall probably need help getting the Tent up before the crowds decend on us.

Forget it, dude. We took one like this last year and it nearly launched Liz to 1000 ft! We eventually had to give up trying to put the thing up in that wicked Wicksteed wind.
Suit yourself, but don't say afterwards that you weren't warned!

Need a couple of volunteers to help with frequency control please.
(Doesn't have to be all day, any short stint will be helpful.)

Has anyone got a large Tug Tow that they could bring?

Also, has anyone got a set of towing barges they could bring please?

Would love to stay on Saturday night but her indoors wants me to do loads of diy over the rest of that weekend, so I'm out of luck. Still she ain't going to stop me going ALL WEEKEND to Llanberis.

It'll restrict the amount of lake can use, we will have to be careful anyway because it's a small lake...

I guess we'll just have to launch off it.

I have booked up my hotel, but there was a change of location. I've decided to go to the Red Lion Hotel in Kettering and have secured the Friday and Saturday nights, so I should be able to get to the lake on time !!  Not bad for £60 eh!

ken

Another change of plan

I've been advised about the unsuitabiltiy of this place, so have cancelled my booking. It's back to the Comfort Royal Hotel for me. Can't afford two nights, so it's an early start on Saturday morning. Anyone else staying here?

Hope I make with more time to spare this time.   ok2

Colin at Hawthorn House
You at Comfort Royal
Me at Travelodge

The rest of the "roughy-toughies" all seem to be camping (so there'll be no shortage of places for a quick afternoon nap in the shade)  {-)

I assume we'll all be getting together on the Saturday evening for the night sail and the ceremonial lighting of the barbeques Dave's new table  %) {-)

it'll be sorted by the time I get to wicksteed.

well to ensure that it doesn't get soaked IN THE TENT this year, I have got an A-frame to go over it, a ray mears job.  5 poles, strung up in an A-frame, tent will go at one end, I will hang the heater off the bamboo a-frame.  that way I'll be able to get some what warm and also have light to read by and do things by.

obvioysly if its a still night, then I won't run the heater, HOWEVER if the wind gets up, then the heater goes on, and because its in the bamboo section, it will be vented safely.  as for the skull and cross, it may well be a table cover.

my sleeping bag came from tesco.

the tent is a 2man (cramped) blue one from lidl,
the tarp will be a rig up to give me extra space.  for the times I use a full size tent, its not worth me buying one, and then there's the matter of storage.

last year I uad it right up against the hedge.  this year will be no different.

That'd be why then, mine came from countryside, is stuffed with polarguard, with a gore tex outer shell...

In the 5 years I've owned it now, I've never had to even bother zipping it up it's so warm, even at the top of mountains in the middle of winter in snow. When coupled with the thermarest roll mat it's better than being in my own bed...
Title: Re: Wicksteed 3 - May 23, 24 2009
Post by: Ghost in the shell on May 10, 2009, 02:45:03 pm
now you see why I wanted a heater in my tent! the water seeped in from the woven floor and the top vent, and the wind howled through the side, the top vent acually sustained damage and now has 3 lugs NOT 4

chingdevil how much was your gazebo's??

Added to the stuff i am bringing down is a small wooden base, 24x18" to put things on inside the tent, so the little cold frame heater will be ideal, , or if i erect the cover, hanging off the bamboo a-frame.  the minivan will be used to block off the top end.

and it WON'T be on OVERNIGHT. just when i want to warm up after getting soaked during the day like last year!!

Title: Re: Wicksteed 3 - May 23, 24 2009

Old scouting tip - lay a plastic groundsheet under the tent when you pitch it, that way you get no water seepage through the woven floor. These floors in tents are rubbish, so a groundsheet is best. Also adds a little insulation, but not much...

what happenned to the ones with metal poles as well rather than these elasticated pole sets, one tent my dad had was supported by tubular steel poles

They're too heavy, but if you want some metal pole jobbies, then The North Face do the most superb tent I have ever seen, it's about £500 but well worth it, looks like a lunar lander...

The best stoves I've come across are GoSystem

As regards boats,

Nord Icelandia,
Celestia,
Gemini,

and if the rudders are fixed, Southampton will also be visiting.

As far as performance goes, Nord Icelandia is not in the stavros school of boating, as Gemini on half power (1x Vision 385 motor) can probably pull Nord Icelandia (on full power) backwards, Nord Icelandia has 2x 385's

Hi Brian

Funny you should have got a Gazebo. I've just bought one today and have just tried it out in the garden to make sure I know how to assemble it (don't want to look a prune putting it up).

Mine is only 2 x 2 metres, but as long it keeps the rain off, should be OK.

Do you think 'Pasting tables' will be strong enough ?

Regarding the event ....... I shall be bringing 'Marks smokie' for demonstration purposes, and will have some brochures for you all to see. Anyone want me to bring up any orders you may have with MMB please?.

ken

Hi,

I hope to bringing my computer controlled flash steam test boat on its first public launch. It is 5 foot long and displaces 32kg and has a 4.5inch prop.

Its only a test boat so you must promise not to laugh (too much!). It is steerable and can go backwards - well it does in the test tank.

Phil has seen the video, but he hasn't bought the T-shirt yet.

I'm just in the throws of tuning the beast (I must think of name for it - dare I ask any suggestions?).

Frequencies:- choice of 40.775, 40.815, 40.835 and 40.945.

Just something I would like Martin to confirm for me. An extract from Wicksteed Park's website, model boat club section

Quote
Finally the Model Boat Club have the occasional use of part of the main 30 acre lake should we wish to stage large national events that are simply to big for the normal lake.

Do you reckon they would allow us to use it for the IC demo? I'm rather concerned about the size of the model boating lake and the fact it has concrete edges in relation to my multi that cannot turn on anything less than half throttle...

I doubt that the large lake is also a boating lake, also if I remember last year it had a lot of swans on it.

"Finally the Model Boat Club have the occasional use of part of the main 30 acre lake should we wish to stage large national events that are simply to big for the normal lake. They are always pleased to see visitors at Wicksteed Park as it is the countries first theme park.  It also has a large number of free swings, climbing frames  slides etc. so you can bring the family and have all day sailing in peace.  If you would like to bring your club, we can make special arrangements for you."

Here are you trying to take over my place as the worst typer Ghost????????
THE answer Andy Is Simple.
DON'T RUN IT. Save it for Llanberis latter in the year. However If you do get the parky's to allow us to run on the big lake I want to run the Makara. However I don't think they will play ball at all. SO DON'T PEE THEM OFF.

Well from what they have written on their site they are happy to let us use it. Never mind the makara, on that lake you could run the hydro.

With Martin's permission it wouldn't hurt to ask nicely, not all parkies are like ours...

Only problem being that what would we do about rescue?

Andy I don't think you will get away with it, So don't spend much time on the rescue boat plan.  Don't get carried away.

As for the run at llanberis, its a long way tio the bottom of the laje, the large pool isn't probably that deep, also Gemini is small so not meant to be taken FAR off bank.  the Najade is the llanberisd boat

I do plan on bringing diwn the Najade as well, but I need a couple of bits forst of mystang mark, incvluding a neqw prop joint to get her running quieter as the motyor is out of line form the shaft.  m5x45mm pin and a m5x25mm pin as well.

as fpr the malkara, the restriction may because its IC.  not electric.

OMRA boat have buoyancy fitted to them. They have too.  This keeps the boat on the surface till the rescue boat can get to the boat and pull it out. There then follows a drying out of the engine and hopfully the radio box stays waterproof  and then you carry on racing. That's how it works.

Andy, this is not the kind of thing Mayhem is expecting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW3avTK9dWo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW3avTK9dWo)

A nice quiet chug round the small lake as planned  :-))
As Bill says, there's always Llanberis for a BIG thrash  %)

If you really want to run the multi on the small lake, increase the throw on your rudder to about 45 deg then make sure you don't go over half throttle (and remember to decrease it before you try to race).

GOOD NEWS - OMRA (me) has a gazebo  :-))  It's almost new but I've never tried it out.  It has millions of poles and sides (if we want to practice hang-gliding)  %)
I'll bring it on Saturday morning, then you can all help me put it up (reduced rent for helpers  {-) )

Hi Danny I'm going to bring my old laptop to play some OMRA DVD's on . I can run it from my 12volt 240 inverter and car battery. I also have some OMRA handouts to give out if people want to contact OMRA. + some A4 photos. Do you have on DVD your boat cam video of the Kingsbury crunch? Bring it along if you have.
Seems like we will have a choice of where to park our boats now.  As for the Gazebo erection! count me in, I love a good puzzle First thing in the morning.

If you really want to run the multi on the small lake, increase the throw on your rudder to about 45 deg

That's about what I'm running anyway, spent a hell of a long time at the flying field teaching myself to make tiny stick movements so I can have plenty of control surface movement in reserve for an emergency. Have got it down to around 2mm movement in any direction, with perfect hold. Well I was pleased with myself...

Bring on very early next friday!!!

Bill is surprisingly active first thing in the morning, at Llanberis he practically jumped out of the tent...

thaught you had to soal them in bbq lioghter fuel first.

I've also saved a piece of formica with 4 legs on it that was once part pf a drawer chgrest, so that will be ok to burn some bbq's on as it was originally boundc fpr the incinerator

I had a go at mixing my own glow fuel a while back, worked well in the plane I tried it in, but the boat and car engines don't like it, so any surplus left over from burning Stav's table will be for the barbie ;)

You do not need seperate fuel for disposable BBQ's.

Remove Lid
Light
Wait for grey ash to appear
Cook

Simples!!

Would there be a problem if we want to let a child have a go of a boat to let them loose in the dock area, as long as there was no conflict of frequencies. My thought was if the footies are running you would not want, say a springer in amongst them.

Brian, that's a great idea and much to be encouraged!
Anyone else got a boat that can lend a child to have a go?

PS. Bag of chips on me again Friday night..... for those of us that should be on a diet!

thanks :)

as for kids running boats, (sorry, children, cant call them kids nowadays), im sure we have a few boats that are slow enough for them to handle.  anyone got any pool noodles that can be used to wrap around a designated "public play boat" that way if they smack someone elses boat, then it won't do any damage.

I can't get there until Sat morning about 10am (so should have the gazebo up for tea time ... )
Then a nice barby in the evening - with lots of tins/bottles and jovial chit chat.
Back Sunday morning to watch the frolics followed by a nice nap after lunch and home AND DRY for tea!
Sounds good to me  :-))

Will many people be around on Sunday? I have to work Saturday, and it's a longish drive down from Yorkshire. Should get away about 1630, maybe arrive 2000 Saturday evening. Will anyone be at the park for the odd libation?

Despaired of ever finding time to finish one of my own boats, so I've bought a Fairmile C through Ebay. Must be mad, giving it its baptism of fire in front of a bunch of perfectionists like you lot.

Andy, the tent is a 4 man dome not a 2man dome, so its a bit more spacious, the bamboo rods will support the length of the break, also it will be looped over the top rail to provide a rain break as well,  "trust me my dear watson".  the other tent with the damaged roof will be rigged for wet stores if it rains during the day.  i dont give a toss if that gets wet on the inside its being thrown after this event.

the windbreak won't be going anywhere either. (i hope and so pray... our father, lord and master over all of us, let my windbreak stand proud, let the weather be good, amen!

Hi

Can you run IC's at Wicksteed?

Do I need to pre book for sailing at this event and for putting any boats on display?  Are there different classes as I've got IC's, fast electric and scale boats?

This will be the first year I've visited and a number of our club members wish to attend and want to know how we can register to sail.

Regards,

You can bring a couple of paste tables to display your boats on
As for running, booking in at frequency control, not sure we have a mug volunteer for that yet, but you'll get the idea when you're there (as will we all  %%)

Heard a rumor that andyn's straight runner is all rudder and no boat !!!!!!!

I'm not sure about the IC's, this place is VERY tight. Fast electrics will be fine but we'll have to keep an eye on your driving a fast electric and check everything in the IC's to make sure we can run it. All in the eye of safety of course, it's a concrete edged lake, and it's not an awful lot bigger than a puddle. Added that we've got people standing around the lake and it's a recipe for disaster if something goes wrong. At the moment we only have two IC's running, Bill's Z Class Cherokee Cheif and Danny Bell's AA boat. I've pulled out myself already because I was going to run a multi, which would be too big and dangerous on a lake that size. Initially I would say save it for Llanberis, as I am, but we'll see how things go.

My straight runner features a new invention - Whacking Great Straight Line Fins - Turn fins but bigger and for going straight with...

Sub Lieutenant Andy :-))

Froggy, run the scale and fast electric, however the IC may be a bit too hot.  the lake is 60ft wide x around 100 ft long, fine for a tethered hydro, but not so great for a high speed guided missile.

If anyone has some pool noodles, I plan on zoning off part of the lake for the publi play boat

Oh come on lads THINK Wickstead club have done the frequency control for the last couple of years and they have a little so and so running it.

Last year I had megga trouble with someone using either the same frequency as me or one closeto it.Make sure that you do haev your areial FULLY extended with a tip protector fitted.I have found out especially on the Futaba sets that if the aerial is not fully extended it will use one up and also one down from your own frequency including yours thus using three at a time but with it fully up they dont.

If anyone is not sure of their 40mhz frequency come and see me as I hav ea checker

What I meant was according to the chart I have there are 32 channels on am of which 13 have a colour associated with them. Is the entire 32 used or do people only use the 13colours.
If I make a frequency chart I do not want to get it wrong

27, 40 Blow all that stuff.
Get yourself a Futaba 2.4 GHZ set up.  NO PROBS even with a spray in the way our anything Else for that matter. AND BEFORE I start up the same old poo again about 2.4 It is very fair to say I have NEVER lost a OMRA type boat unlike my Sanwa 40 MHz stuff i used to run in my sparky boats.
It dose however get over the Who's on wot Freq. Come on treat yourself to 21st century tecno Lads and Lady's.

Got to agree with you Bill  :-))
I took the plunge and have been running both boats on 2.4GHz at 4 races so far.
Not a twitch out of them!  The boats are still rubbish (or my driving)  %)  but the Futaba is superb.
The only peg I'll need is the ones to dry the clothes after the annual downpour  {-) {-)

re; frequencies, here is a chart, you just need a big version for the peg board (I can do a A3 if you like)
As for me, as I am also a dinosaur I'm on 27 meg, despite Bill trying to get me to go to 2.4 Ghz (might make the step to 40 meg soon)
My lounge looks like I'm preparing for a 6 month expedition, better start packing now cos it could take a while.
 :-)) :-))
And as I'm picking up Andy on the way, if I run out of space I might have to strap him to the roof of the caravan with his boat tucked under his arm  {-)

well its gobve out showers on and off.

if it turns, we carry on sailing, the rain isnt the problem, we have gazebos.  the wind could make things interewsting if it picks up, especially as some of the models there can be tp heavy

..if it gets as bad as it did last year, (which I dont honestly think it will, we;ll just have the rain on and off), and aslong as the wind stays low we shgould be alright.

I hope the weather's better for Wicksteed than we are experiencing at the moment - 40 knot winds, driving rain and 6 metre seas along the coast. Some areas to the north of us have had over 300 mm of rain in the last day or so, and one place had 190 mm in an hour. We have not had that sort of rain, but it's not very pleasant, and our regatta on Saturday is almost certain to be postponed as the forecast is for more bad weather until Tuesday  <:(

It seems to be OK in north Queensland, Ghost, most of the bad weather is in south east Queensland and north east NSW. We are only 90 km from the Queensland border, whereas we are nearly 2000 km (1200 miles) from Cairns in north Queensland. We are 800 km (480 miles) north of Sydney - it's a big country.

Its not allowed to rain Sat night (or the rest of the time really) as it will put the BBQ's out, still panic not I have the blowlamp from my steamboat.

Further bit of info, the MPBA will be having a little stand maned by Dave Abbott and Ken Gould, so if you need info go have a chat, also a good chance to pick Dave's brain on all things scale, scale judging, painting, gluing and all things wot us straight runners don't understand.

Bring it on, I'm nearly ready   :-)) :-))

this is huns and beeker

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9t_Lubf46s

"There was no way they could have known that morning
That they awoke upon a fateful day
The killer wind came down without a warning
And no one had the chance to get away

The firemen were brave, they fought with honor
But the blaze was more than it appeared to be
And one by one they fell beside their comrades
Victims of a foe they could not see

Momma where are you
Poppa where did you go
And where are all the children who used to play here
Only Heaven knows

What they saw defied all explanation
Someone said the trees were glowing red
They say the light came from the radiation
But, maybe its the spirits of the dead

Momma where are you
Poppa where did you go
And where are all the children who used to play here
Only Heaven knows

Gone the homes, the gardens and the playgrounds
Gone the souls who made their livings here
They say this place will always be a ghost town
It will be for at least six hundred years

Momma where are you
Poppa where did you go
And where are all the children who used to play here
Only Heaven knows "

can ye guess what its about?
they have done other songs andy, many of which are a lot happier tone, but this is the only one there is on youtube that i can find.  however it wont be the saturday kareoke tune.

Having just spoken with Phil it seems that we have a HSE issue concerning INSURANCE forTHE LAKE

Course layout and recoverey of sunken boats and the straight running demo.

Therefore with this in mind only the following are allowed in the lake

Phil Abbott
Dave Jones
Andy Nightingale

Anyone contravening this HSE ruling will be asked to get out of the water immediatly ,.......................NO EXCEPTIONS

ok ta, next, is there a ramp at the lake, or is launching only available off a path? Can we get cars close to the lake edge for offloading?

Also is it the lake in the park here: http://www.wicksteedpark.co.uk/content.aspx?cid=143

Is there a food stall or cafe at the site?

Need to be sure, am coming a long way
