Hi all,
Just read this in National newspaper, and I think this may intrest those of us oldies.
I quote,
Only 2600 more signiatures are needed to trigger a likely House of Commons debate on the "Granny Tax"
Some 97400 have signed the petition on the Governments website which calls for a reverse of a policy which will see the higher personal tax allowance for the over 65s scrapped in April.
To sign the petition visit epetitions.direct gov uk and search for age allowance.
Sorry I do not know how to put a direct link to the web page.
Dont let them take more of our money from us.

I realise that this is the chit-chat section and understand the issue and concerns, but isn't this topic entirely political?

I don't understand what point you're making Andy. I don't think asking people to sign an e-partition is political. The politics start when the required total of signatures is reached and the government are obliged to debate the matter by public demand. Many of us on this site (me included) are surviving on a pension with a rapidly decreasing value and would welcome any action to protect our limited income.

In complete agreement Cabman.

You are at liberty to sign it.
All we ask is, that you do not debate it here, please.
