Title: California Maker Faire Battle Pond - 2013
Post by: Rob Wood on May 24, 2013, 05:12:01 am
Just completed our (Western Warship Combat Club (http://www.westernwarshipcombat.com)) 6th annual Maker Faire event, in which 1:144 Axis & Allied fleets engage in battle in a 40-foot x 72-foot "Battle Pond" before audiences of 1,100. We held 10 of these battles over the course of the two-day event, which means we had a combined audience of 11,000. The Maker Faire event itself attracted over 150,000 attendees this year.

In between battles, our sister club (the San Francisco Model Yacht Club (http://www.sfmyc.org)) taught sailing lessons to anyone interested.

The strange-looking flying contraption in a few of the shots is a hex-copter equipped with video. It shot one of our battles from the air, viewable here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTpGE7bIJoE&feature=youtu.be)
