Ohhh! How could I forget The Avengers- I watched the entire collection whilst in the Falklands back in 2012!
-
				Inspector Morse.

Miami Vice, and quite a lot more of those already mentioned.

And does anyone remember an ITV science magazine programme from the early 80s with a Vangelis theme?  My memory won't recover the title but I can remember loving the theme music.

So sad to hear about Honor Blackman (leather clad Cathy Gale, original Avenger lady) a few days ago.
Perhaps it shouldn't be a memorable TV theme, but  ...  Batman.  Zap! Pow!! Splatt!!!
-
				Inspector Morse.

Miami Vice, and quite a lot more of those already mentioned.

Can you remember the general plot ?.
-
It was a sort of Tomorrow's World/Horizon type programme and it might have only been on Central TV.  Curse this failing memory!!

-
I remember a TV war-history series in the early 60s which was called Victory at Sea. Never mind the bellicose Americana of it, the theme by Richard Rodgers (yep, that one of Rodgers and Hammerstein fame) has stuck in my mind for all that time. There's probably more of it on You-Tube, but this is the part which opened the TV series. As they teach folk to say on the first day of all college Catering Courses - "ENJOY!!"

Being more of a classical or driving music type,

Films - Any star wars, star trek, Battlestar Galactica etc music

Music - Barber's Adagio For Strings.
Surprisingly anything by the Script, cold play, chasing cars, Adele's Set fire to the rain.
Don Henlys Boys of summer (the first set of lines are quite poetic for these strange times and apt).
 Surprisingly Barber's Adagio For Strings.

TV - Morse and the associated music found in some adverts i.e. flower duet etc.
Lately quite a lot of the time Rob Dougans Furious Angels (mostly found in TV crime series Law and Order and another in Criminal Intent and the Matrix)
-
				1. Das Boot....Just amazing, play it loud!

 2. The Prisoner.

 3. Z Cars.

 Back to   Themes

 Black Beauty

Chi Mai           from "The Life And Times Of David Lloyd George

 Man in a suitcase

-
Then of course there's Ron Goodwin's theme from The Trap, used by the BBC for the London marathon - always lifts my spirits.  (Ron Goodwin - the best film composer never to have won an Oscar.)

And Booker T and the MGs' Soul Limbo - BBC cricket coverage, instantly brings hot summer days, green grass and languid cricket commentary to mind.   Aaaaahhh....... :-)

 Greg

-
				Westworld
 Fireball XL5
 Doctor Who
-
				From Oz.
 'Neighbours'
A couple you might not have seen in U.K.
'Rush'   About the Australian gold rush
'6 Ribbons' sung by Jon English in 'Against the Wind'
and on a nautical theme 'Patrol Boat'

-
Cheating a bit slipping in extras, but my home random back ground music system just played the Pink Panther theme.  And it counts as TV due to the cartoon series that it was the theme for.
And just having heard the sad news about Tim Brooke-Taylor, The Goodies theme.
-
Hmmm, toughie because you forget so many and dont forget, some progs had different opening and closing theme music.
 In not particular order
Dangerman, Hawaii 5-0, Fireball XL5 closing theme.
-
Sticking with TV sci-fi (it was a toss-up between sci-fi and the world of Gerry Anderson):

 Blake's 7
 Star Trek:Voyager
 The Orville
-
Couldn't remember the Blakes 7 theme (it was sort of famous for having neither Blake nor 7 in the later series') but I do remember Servalan.

-
Who could forget the stunning Servalan :-))

-
The actress was apparently suffering from all sorts of mental health issues according to a recent article I saw.

 Colin

Sadly Jacqueline Pearce died a couple of years ago.

-
				Inspector Morse.

Miami Vice, and quite a lot more of those already mentioned.

And does anyone remember an ITV science magazine programme from the early 80s with a Vangelis theme?  My memory won't recover the title but I can remember loving the theme music.

Think the series you mean was Cosmos, starring Carl Sagan.

The Vangelis theme music was called "Heaven and Hell".

Full theme with no talking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDvKsQAafGU

-
My three, just off the top of my head, would be:

 Harry's Game by Clannad
Beautiful, haunting, sad, it was so perfect for a series set at the height of The Troubles in Northern Ireland

Battlestar Galactica (Re-inagined 2004 version) by Bear McCreary
Gorgeous and original, this music did everything a TV theme needs to do while sounding utterly unlike anything else.
They did a fabulous live concert of music from the series, full video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3yovHB-drE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3yovHB-drE) (the actual title theme starts at about 13:40)

 Space 1999, BUT.... (and here's a way to start a geek-fight on the internet... <*< )

Series 1 (Barry Gray) or Series 2 (Derek Wadsworth?)?

I say Series 1 hands down, but other opinions are available.... ok2

-
The opening theme for the first series of Space 1999 is certainly my preferred version as it sounds so dramatic. Big Finish audiobooks did a remake of Space 1999 last year and used a slightly altered version of the original theme. Sounds so good on audio!
 See what you think.

Oh nice one - I like that!  :-))

The most recent plastic model I finished (I'm in a bit of a slump at the moment) was a moon rover from a What-If early-2000s reboot of Space 1999 (I only do What-Ifs). The idea was that they used a Stalwart as the basis and stuck half a fibreglass Saracen body left over from the Judge Dredd movie on top of it:

Do you know Clapton improvised most of that as they were doing the recording session?  :o
