On my TV, I took an audio feed off the Scart socket and fed that into the cordless headphone adaptor. You can buy Scart to phono adaptors from Ebay.
-
hi cannot seem to find it gordon

Ebay has a Scart to stereo jack.......is that of any use ?

From your post Gordon are you referring to buying a new TV? if so do new TV's still have SCARTS?
Would HDMI to 3.5mm audio be a better bet?

If it is wireless is it not blue tooth ?.
Think we have been down this road before, any new TV I would have thought will have either and or a HDMI, USB socket, maybe a scart and maybe phono ports so really you need to go into a shop and take your headphones in and see if they work on any of the New sets.
My TV is LG, has 3 HDMI, 2 USB ,video and Phono sockets as in the picture above and some card type socket !! and is only about 3 years old.
-
tried all morning no sound from headphones so new tv what is the best about 400 pounds and 50 inch gordon
-
As I said you are best if able to go to an actual shop as you will get 100 different answers here.
My preference is LG or Samsung.
-
Only problem going to a shop is that they will push you towards the one they get the most commission on. Thanks to todays sets having built in manufacturers settings for brightness/colour and contrast pre set, the old tricks of massaging the picture to 'steer' a purchase are long gone. TLBs suggestion of LG and Samsung are good BUT look to the various sales outlets for the best prices. As you're looking for Headphone connection, the sound reproduction is down to headphone quality but if you need to listen via speakers, you'll need a sound bar as sound reproduction via the built in system, although better than in the past is still inferior unless you're spending thousands.
Regards Ian.
PS 'Which' is not always the site to go to. ok2

All a bit different from when TVs had a live chassis. You plugged into those at your peril!

Had to change when one or two Aerial riggers were blown off the roof.

Unfortunately new Tv's bring their own problems. As Ian says the sound is generally so poor that you have to buy a sound bar. Bought a Samsung sound bar for our Samsung tv (Smart Tv, yeah right!) and voices aren't in synch on most channels. Spent ages Googling and changing settings and have never got it right. Stopped using our Samsung Bluray player which we bought for our previous Samsung (non-Smart) to increase the sound quality as that had problems when using Netflix and Prime.
Picture quality on latest Tv's is great but getting decent sound can be a nightmare.

which soundbar Chris
-
Hi jaymac, it's a Samsung HW-T550 soundbar. What I didn't say is that we also have a Virgin box. When we got the TV for example BBC 1 was fine but HD BBC 1 was out of sync and now the normal BBC has been dropped. Trouble is some channels were Ok and others weren't so even if I could have got e.g. BBC 1 right then other channels would be out of synch. Delay between picture and sound can be adjusted in the TV settings but not in the way required.
I tried top quality HDMI and optical cables but couldn't sort the issue and so just have to live with it. I seem to remember reading that part of the problem is that the picture and sound are recorded separately.
