Hy Guys,
Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong with one of my Acom 2 channel reciever,s, one minute it was working, and then nothing, it was in the boat on the bench, and has never been used on the water. I took a reciever out of one of my other boats tried that and it is all working fine. There was no indication of anything being wrong, it just packed up. Any idea,s on the problem or anything else would be apreciated.

It's a process of elimination. are your TX & Rx batteries OK ? Is power getting to your Rx ? are your Xtals OK & matching ? are the plugs plugged in to the Rx the correct way round ?

Does the 'DEAD' receiver work in the installation you took the 'GOOD' receiver from?

A voltmeter is handy to check whether the power is reaching the RX in the first place. Then check that power is appearing at the servo/esc pins (or coming out of the ESC if its a BEC setup).
If the RX has power, the other thing to check is the crystal - are the pins making good contact? Does the same crystal work with another set? Does a different crystal work?
The only othe thing that is user-checkable (and would void most warranties) is to pull the pcb out of the case and check the tracks in the area of the servo pins for hairline cracks/dry joints. Apart from that, an RX is a module that is cheaper to replace than repair, assuming you could find a repair outfit that was prepared to do the job at any price.

Hy Guys.
Tx and Rx batteries are all good, xtals are ok, plugs are in right way around, I assume that power is getting through to the rx as when I replace it with another it all works, when I put the dead rx into another boat, there is nothing. I will do a test as you say Malcom but I think Its one for the bin. Its a nuisance as the Rx has never been used on the water, and only a few times when bench testing , although it has been in the boat and stored for aprox 3 months.

got to get my head around li /po battery chargers now, (on another thread) sometimes think is it all worth it :(

Hi......i had a similar problem with a futaba rx, but only lost one channel. Suggestion was to remove board from the case and clean all the pins . i did this with a fibre glass brush , result......rx came back to life. may not be your problem but costs nothing and is worth a try
