Title: C98
Post by: TheLongBuild on October 10, 2024, 11:47:05 am
Hi, hoping someone might be able to help.
I have an item with C98 on 1940, but can not find any vessels with that Id,  is there an ID register anywhere ?
Thanks
Larry.

Thanks for that, interesting websites.
I assume it must be HMS Scylla, did they not put names on the bells as well ?, it is a genuine one not a copy.

Ahh, so the item is a ships bell??

Normally the name was put on to its bell. However during the war I don’t know if they left them off 🤷‍♂️

Think you will find was a Naval Store carrier, all small PSTOn craft were given the letter c followed by a number right up until Port Auxiliary was came into being the oil depot tugs were known by a C and a number until P.A.S came into being and the tugs were then given a name. I used to have a pic of one called C99, all the larger store carriers pre war were c plus a number though the Naval Armament carriers were all named as were their tugs . I believe Mountfleet do a model of one which is called C635 I believe,
