Does anybody know whether there are any camping facilities near the show ?A quick google gave a list of seven plus lots more hits, most near the end of the motorway, the rest about three or four miles from the Norbreck. Caravan or tent?
Regards,
Ray.
Yes we also have another old trader back on the scene now specailising as Scale Warships
You could start by turning the lights on!!!
Anyhow.....what day at the MMB stand??
And will Mark try and charge us for cluttering his stand {-) {-)
Shouldn't that be:
Aaaaaaaandy go fffff fetch me a coffee!!!

can the organiser confirm that George turner models are going ? I don't want to waist a journey .
does anybody know if they are still trading ?
thanks, Peter
Hi there Peter, someone was selling a lot of George Turner stuff off at the Southern Model Airshow at the weekend. There wasn't a lot of left so doubt they will be at Blackpool. You never know, somebody else might end up doing his stuff if he sells the moulds off?? There are alternatives, what scale figures (I assume figures) are you after? Dave. {:-{
Thank you for that Dave, I have just bought a kit of fleabay of one of his boats, when it arrives if there are any bits missing I was going to ask him if they where available, but don't want to waist a trip as I bought all my bits at Haydock, I had herd the rumors as well about him retiring or whatever.
Peter
Can the mods tell me if post 26 was altered by the mods ? because I saw a sarcastic remark that seems now to have disappeared ?

Sorry, Im not being critical (might be being thick though <*<) but I may be wanting to sell a couple of boats at this show.
If I wanted to do this, how do I go about it \ who do I need to let know etc etc? Although I live local, I currently work in Manchester so there's no way I could get stuff down to Norbreck 'Friday afternoon.' Can stuff be taken down on Friday evening?
TIA
To answer some of the points on here ...if you read Number 6 posts you will see why I asked the question and I have given up ringing as he never answers these days , I expected the sarcastic remark, we will see who was right
There is a phone number of 01606 891999 for any show questions more than happy to answer as we cant keep our eye on every forum
There will be a number of extra lights this year ..as ever we cant get it right as some don't want anymore lights
George Turner has booked and is coming we have wrote that on the traders list... so why we need to confirm it again, but there you go. However if you want something specific perhaps a quick call to him...

We like transparency and you cant get much more transparent than that
We are normally on site until about 7.00p.m., when we have generally decided that enough is enough for one day.QuoteQuote from: justboatonic on Yesterday at 08:24:33 PM

If you read Number 6 posts you will see why I asked the question and I have given up ringing as he never answers these days , I expected the sarcastic remark, we will see who was rightWith any show such as this, and in fact almost all model boat shows, the traders are either one man bands or cottage size concerns. Until the show opens with them on site, nothing is certain. This is a fact of life. In the past we have had traders who have had their vehicles break down unexpectedly, sickness has struck, either the trader and/or a family member, in one case a vehicle was burglarized. We have also had the occasional club who booked a lot of space and never showed up, and couldn't be bothered to let us know before, or apologize after. When an announcement is made, it is safe to assume that the companies listed have agreed to attend. Whether this turns out on the day is another matter. Show organizers don't have any more knowledge than anybody else regarding anybody elses' situation or intentions unless the concern in question has actually contacted them, only that space has been booked and a deposit paid.

Have to hand it to Neil and the Hilton Antiques fair..spent 45 years trying to understand women...............never give up, but give them just enough rope to leave you giving them a guilt trip, {-) {-) {-) {-)

here's some to please you bill.sadly the batteries ran out in the camera faster than my motors cooked in the Clyde, lol
just a slight correction Dave.mine was the Grace Paterson Ritchie, CH B was the 70 - 001.
Once all costs are tallied it must be difficult to make a profitNo - but it would be if we had to pay the Blackpool Tower Ballroom's idea of rent. I'm sure that if better and cheaper accommodation were to be available then Mark Williams would be onto it in a flash. No exhibition space is ideal in every respect; if it were then the rent would be exorbitant and the consequent door prices would deter most folk from visiting. I thought the lighting this year was an improvement over previous years and as regards the car parking, well - it is in Blackpool and it's still "illuminations" time so we can't expect exclusive use of the car park.

The lighting did seem better this year, photos do seem to come out dark though, not to sure why that is? As for parking I've never had a problem on the front car park, there is parking at the rear too with a door to the show venue. Failing that there's usually room on the main road. Dave. :-))
I'm not certain but isn't the hall really for ballroom dancing etc? there's a lot of dark walls and also the ceiling, if they painted these with lighter colour's..white would be good..the overall illumination (no pun %%) would be much improved for photography O0Obviously never seen a ballroom. That's the room next door which does have a sprung floor. The Norcalympia was intended as an exhibition and event hall, and is a vast improvement from the point of view of access to both the Olympia and Tower. Yes, the lighting could be improved - I haven't been in a hall where it couldn't be improved, but this year it was better because I noticed that I didn't have to take the walk to reception to get anything fixed. Perhaps the owners have realised that craft exhibitions need visibility.
JB.
I assume that the Norbreck Catastrophe must rent their exhibition space at a low price{-) {-) {-) %% %% %% {-) {-) {-)
And apparently almost had its own indoor river ..Andy...Rather later. And your stall was downstream.

For photography, remember that the lights are fluorescent based, and have a slight greenish tinge. When the piccies get into the PC, a gentle tweak on the colour balance sorts it.
In previous years, the hotel has had another event the same weekend (its a big place, they can) but this year there wasn't, so there was much less pressure on parking for those who cared to look.
{-) {-) {-) %% %% %% {-) {-) {-)
If only. They think of it as a low price, and would like it to be much higher.

Anyway, many thanks to all who came to look and buy, all those who exhibited, both on stands and on the pool, and all those who helped before, during, and after the weekend.
