Title: grp canal boat help

hello i bought my first grp hull a few weeks back in the form of mobile marine models "margret"canal boat but having a few problems getting started


the problem i am having is with the detail moulded into the hull,the hull has the topmost rubbing strip moulded into the hull but the nature of assembly puts the decks overhanging the top with the edge of the deck making up the topmost strip as in the last image,also the topmost rubbing strip is semi missing/not quite registered towards the boats bow

 so..should i sand down the topmost strip detail?

I've become interested in the narrow boats recently, will be watching this one  O0

contacted mobile marine and there response was that the top rail is more of a guide and a new rail from stripwood should cover the join between deck and hull...


so of it comes then

thank goodness someone knows the correct name for it!!.

I used to cringe when some one on the tow path would ask me how long my "barge" or "canal boat" was, and would then look indignant when I would say "my NARROW BOAT is 56 foot long......"


sorry but a real pet gripe with me........it's like calling a trawler......... a tug boat??

Glad I got it right  :} . I ordered the 59" hull from Orion Mouldings last week, should ship out to the states next week  O0 .
