OK folks, thanks for your patience. I think that I have now got the web site up & running again on its new server (thanks very much Plusnet for deleting the old site without any notice!)
If you experience any problems accessing the site, or you prefer to have a booking form sent to you by e-mail / post just let me know.
Once I am happy that the new server is behaving itself I will be adding the facility to buy tickets on-line, more details of that will follow in due course.
Of course I will be adding details to the site of clubs & traders etc that will be at the show as the booking forms come in.

The web addresses are unchanged from last year & are:
www.blackpoolmodelshow.co.uk
www.blackpoolmodelboatshow.co.uk
These are just 2 addresses for the same site, there aren't 2 different sites.

Stavros, any chance of a down loadable entry form for the Bring and Buy, it would reduce confusion on the day, and give a chance for mine to be legible!
See you on the Friday as we set up the Rawdon stand.

I will be updating the site in the next day or two with all the details I have at the present - there are still a number of clubs & traders who have not returned their paperwork as yet (hint hint) Any clubs/traders interesting in attending who have not already expressed an interest, there is a very limited amount of space still available, but get your booking forms in quick as there are already more at this years show than last years.
Booking forms can be downloaded from the show web site (www.blackpoolmodelshow.co.uk) or you can phone us & we will post one out to you - 01238 719353, outside of office hours there is an answerphone, so just leave us a message.
I shall also be adding a ticket purchase option to the web site as well, this will hopefully speed up the entry into the venue as there was quite a queue early on Saturday morning last year, this way we can have a second (faster?) entry for those with tickets, so there will be a much smaller queue for those paying on the day.
All in all the show is shaping up to be a great weekend, with several exhibitors who have never been to the Blackpool show before, there is bound to be something new to see.

Hi Mike, cant answer the question but can say the new Blackpool organizers have a great set up, indoor pool with a good range of traders, and they brought in Trucks and Tanks last year, giving demos on a purpose built track, not been to Warwick, but Blackpool for you is a 400 mile trip, bring the wife for the weekend a see some of the shows and the Illuminations could make a great weekend away

Hi Mike (Captain Bligh), if you are going to make a weekend of it then yes worth the travel up if you are only coming to the show then no save the journey for Warwick. This is only my personal opinion I enjoyed Blackpool but Warwick was the bigger and better of the 2 for me.

According to the Warwickishire ex center web site the Size of Warwick  Show is 2280 sq meters and Blackpool is a total of 2700 sq meters I hope this will ans your question.

Blackpool has a main hall where the pool is situated and another Ballroom atatched to it .

Whilst the Blackpool show covers a slightly larger floor area, these are very different shows, so it is a bit like comparing apples & oranges.
Warwick is a great show & has always been a firm favourite of ours. The Blackpool show is more diverse & the town with all its "charms" can make for a great weekend break. Really the best advice I could offer is to come to both shows, I'm sure that you will enjoy them both as there will be loads of different things to see at each one.

Never been to Warwick, but can say that the show at Blackpool is a great one and as said, Blackpool itself has some great entertainment for young and older plus some good eating houses and pubs plus shows that are always on.

doubt if Warwick can match such entertainment diversity.

Problem with shows like most things, you ask 100 people and you will get 100 different reply's, even from those who go regularly, Blackpool now in its 2 or is it 3rd ? year under New Management is back on an even keel,  I went back last year for the 1st time in 4 years after favouring Warwick, however last year decided to go to BP as will be doing so again this year, Not because it is closer but because it is more diverse, I am not into trucks and tanks but still found the displays interesting and was something different and SWMBO likes the chips from the shop just down the road. :-)

Yes its a long trip, but at the end of the day you will never know what it is really like unless you give the show a visit to make up your own mind.

There appears to be some indications of quite a rapid fall off in footfall at shows all over the country over the last year or two. Presumably people getting older or falling off the perch and not being replaced. Also, club stands require a lot of effort to set up and man during the period of a show and some clubs are finding it difficult to do this. Reduction in footfall impacts on trader takings and thus their willingness to attend.

If all the shows try to cling on by their fingertips then there is a very real risk that they will all suddenly go the same way as Coalville and Ellesmere Port and Brighton etc. and we will be left with none!

I rather feel that there needs to be a degree of consolidation in both location and timings to attract the maximum attendance at each one. If people are having to decide whether to go to Warwick or to Blackpool then one of those shows is going to have one less person through the door.

From what I have heard, none of the existing shows are very healthy financially although some are better off than others.

Colin - I will also add that, for the likes of us (new to the game and still finding our feet), certain shows are charging the traders a price that is becoming unsustainable, regardless of the visitor attendance.
At the risk of putting my neck on the block - and this is purely related to us - we find that we get as much 'exposure' at shows such as Haydock and Blackpool as we do at Warwick but at a much more acceptable cost.  My view is that we (Linkspan Models) attend the shows to show what we can do and to chat to potential customers.  If we sell any kits at the show then we are most grateful and look upon that as a bonus.  We are finding that most customers like to see what they are potentially going to get, chat to those that developed the kit and then go away and mull it over for a week or two.  Now, the charges for Haydock and Blackpool we can accommodate..............but Warwick?  To be frank, unless the organisers wake up and seriously think about what they charge us, we are going to have to think very hard about whether it really is cost effective for us.  I would rather put the cost of attending Warwick toward the cost of having a full stand at Dortmund!!!!!
It is a dilemma.....................

Hello Colin
I think you are mixing up the Warwick shows . The Engineering show is the one that Clashes with Blackpool . The model boat show is in November. So no model boats shows clash

John,

No I am not mixing them up. It's not a question of there being a direct clash but of two shows being held within two months. Many people will only attend one of them.

Colin You raise an interesting comparison with Dortmund. This is a very diverse show in terms of the range of modelling on display. Specialist shows seem to have had their day (perhaps with the exception of model railways ).perhaps the Dortmund approach is the way to go.

This is an interesting line as to the health or other wise of the specialist model boat show .  Colin  is  absolutely  right in his view of the current situation  and not unsurprisingly as  our European friends at shows such as  Intermodellbau Dortmund are experiencing what could be considered   show fatigue . But ever the optimist   perhaps its time  to ask  ourselves what we as modellers  want from such shows specialist or diverse . After Haydock it was muted to me that the show was a success with the modellers and traders  but the chance of drawing the thousands that once visited the Convention back in the 1990s  a distant dream .  Colin mentioned many of the basic reasons for this change .  Perhaps if we wish these shows  to continue  in their present form  and be financially viable   the old taboo   of asking modellers of clubs displaying  at these event to  chip in  with a small  fee isn't beyond  the pale as it once was.  For example  model boat shows such as Haydock are not just a place to display and purchase modelling bits but it has evolved into a social gathering and a superbly  enjoyable one  in excellent surrounding .  If we  do or say nothing then the decline and eventual  demise  of  the specialist  or even the  more diverse  model   show will become a real prospect.

Asking clubs to pay to display would kill the shows dead in the water simple. Costs have to be covered for the venue beyond that you are talking about making a profit ,why would club members contribute to another organization or individual making money?
At times the venues leave a great deal to be desired, difficult to get to, poor lighting , disgusting toilets, uneatable food I have been to shows like this and still enjoyed them if the models on display are top quality.

I fear that the point has been missed. Colin said that people will decide on a show visit regards distance and cost, what he didn't say was most of the people sailing and building are getting on a bit!!! pensions etc, or getting towards that time, costs matter, 2 shows in 2 months follow Colins theme. W e seem to have lost Ellesmere Port which was always the season opener. Stavros and Component Shop have saved Blackpool by diversifying, Warwick is more central to the country, but, with fuel costs etc it is a long haul for a few hours visit. I live in Manchester, Blackpool  is 1 hour away, Ellesmere Port is 1 hour away, Warwick is 2+hours away, Doncaster is 11/2 hours. Colin in a previous post has indicated his reluctance to travel the distance, fair comment, there are not many diehard modelers left that will or can afford to visit long distance shows. They are mostly regional, dont expect too many modelers from out of area eg. Midlands, Northwest, South, Scotland etc, much support is gained from the Isle of Man, but again high costs are involved. Intermodellbau style show, 1 big show for the year??? NEC for the week??? Aircraft, Drones, Cars, Trucks, Boats, Plastic modeling??? the list goes on. SUPPORT who knows.

Thats my hat in the middle tell me what you think!!!!

I very much appreciate what you say but what is the cost of a cup of coffee . The equation is I fear to say quite simple if we fail to address this issue then all of the shows will go and then all we can do is say how nice that show was .

I simply don't see asking clubs to foot the bill is the answer.
My prediction for what it's worth is that the first show that tries this will be dead in the water.
Perhaps club open days is the future and we can but dream of the great days out we had in the 80s and 90s

Just as a Foot note   Haydock is organized  by members of clubs from the area   for the benefit of modellers and the trade .All of the funds are plowed back into the functioning of the event apart from any donation given to the likes of the RNLI.

For us living in Jersey it gets quite expensive to get off our rock, so we look for something new to go to. We have done Blackpool 3 times now, Doncaster a couple of times as well as Ellesmere twice also other shows around England.   What swung it for us this year at Blackpool is the fact that there will be other types of models, trucks, tanks etc to have a look at.    As usual it will be- how can we get that back  on the plane?.  But really we regard it as a Jolly Boys Outing, meet up with friends, buy what we can bring back,  and order what we can't.  8 of us are looking forward to a good show.
                                  Regards to all  Jim. :-))

Asking clubs to pay to display would kill the shows dead in the water simple. Costs have to be covered for the venue beyond that you are talking about making a profit ,why would club members contribute to another organization or individual making money?

The Model Boat Convention is a non profit making show, we the organisers do not make a penny out of the show.  Any excess money is donated to various charities, over the years this has amounted to quite a considerable sum.

I simply don't see asking clubs to foot the bill is the answer.

I will speak to the hotel next week & see what the diary looks like. Last year & this year they had something on every other weekend during October, so there was no choice beyond the weekend we took, I expect it to be similar for 2018

Yes, there are more traders this year. Apologies that the web site is not up to date, I have been a bit ill over the last couple of weeks, but should have everything updated tomorrow. I will also put the full list of traders here as well.

I have spoken with the hotel about possible dates for 2018 & have now pencilled in the weekend of 20th - 21st October 2018. This is only likely to change if sufficient numbers of people come to me with a strong argument for a different date, however I think that is unlikely as the only other weekend that is currently free at the Norbreck during October is the weekend of 27th-28th & personally I feel that is getting too close to the Warwick model boat show.

I agree Iain,
The earlier date would be much better, for the reason you have given, the later date is far too close to the Warwick Show.I would suggest if possible,to make it even earlier if the hotel is agreeable,to give those of us who travel a great distance, time to recover.
The most important thing of course,is that we all try to make THIS years event the best ever. One suggestion,is to put a large banner advertising the event at the front of the hotel,as far as I know there hasnt been any in recent years, and this would attract many more people who would see it from passing cars buses and trams?
I will be there joining my pal Neil, with his display!

Sadly there are no other dates available in October & I feel that September is too early, so I think we are stuck with what we have.
As for the banner, this is something I wanted to do last year, however I am told by the hotel that there is a very strict anti-fly posting policy in place across Blackpool, which kind of makes sense because with so many things going on in the town if everyone put up posters it would look a mess. Even though the banner would be within the hotel grounds, the management were totally against it because of this policy. I tried.......

I should perhaps also mention the raffle. All proceeds of which are going to the RNLI, we are taking nothing from the proceeds, not even the cost of the tickets. The prize list is growing all the time, but so far we have the following:

Weekend break for 2.
Day cruise on lake Windermere (family ticket)
Day cruise on lake Coniston (family ticket)
Digital battery charger
Round of golf for up to 4
£20 gift voucher from Barton Grange Garden Centre
Tea for 2 at Slattery Patissier & Chocolatier (Whitefield, Manchester)
Stick of Blackpool Rock!

All in all some pretty good prizes, so please pass on some of the shrapnel from your pocket when you see the raffle tickets on sale.

Just a thought on dates for the Blackpool Show - As a trader, we are most happy with the status quo.
Any later and it gets too close to Warwick.  For us, September is reserved for the Deans Marine Open Weekend (and, I would guess, this would rule out Deans Marine from attending as well!!!).  August contains the Haydock Show, so the October date would fit in just nicely.
Having the shows too close together makes it very difficult for a small outfit like ourselves to re-stock between shows.
Really looking forward to the show - see you all there!!!!

In support of Carl, July and August, lot of people on holiday, end of August, Haydock. September Deans Marine, October Blackpool and November Warwick, whats the problem?? these shows are spread around the country giving most people a chance to see quality models, fingers crossed Ellesmere Port will be on for the March start to the season. We cant all run round the country to every show, support the one in your area, don't moan, attend!!!!

Each show has about 4 - 6 weeks between.

When we first started the Blackpool show in the Tower in 1997, it was timed (mid November) for when the illuminations was ending as an end of season boost to the Tower company and local hotels.
This continued through our time in the Winter Gardens Olympia.  At that time, Warwick happened the weekend before the Blackpool show, which did not help with smaller traders who did not have time to restock.
When we were offered the Norbreck, the only weekends available were in either the second half of October or mid February.  We went for October.  The show has remained that weekend ever since, with a bit of allowance for dates creeping forward and the weekend occasionally having to be reset due to the unreasonableness of calendars.
The thinking is that it is a good compromise, giving a reasonable gap in the north west after Haydock and before Christmas, and, with the addition of other branches of the model hobby, hopefully not treading on others toes.

Well the background work for the show is going swimingly so to speak,Simply can not wait for the show and our annual Blackpool Break...Hard work it is but definatly enjoyable.I can Gtee everyone a darned good show...well I suppose I am Baiased but hey ho.

As Iain has allready stated the Raffle prizes are well worth the price of the tickets EVERYONE should buy some just to stop Larry Longbuild winning the stick of rock as he has his eyes on it.

I can Guarantee you one thing this year, someone is bringing along something that I have never seen at the show...OH and YES it is part of modeling...dont sumise what it is as NO discussion to what it is will be entered into !!!!!!!!!!!!

Traders are hard at it getting their wares ready so they can relieve you of your hard earned pennies and clubs are polishing the boats ready to be put on the stands...Even Malcolmfrary has joined in by polishing the Tower trophy ready to go on the club stand.

The trade is definatly up on previous years with some new traders and some who have rejoined us

That's a very nice long list of the Traders who are attending the show, giving us all the chance of actually seeing the goodies on show before we buy!
Sincerely Dave, and Iain, thank you to both of you for all the hard work you have been putting in,last year and this,by pulling up this show from its boots, and improving it a great deal to say the least. As organiser for mere model tents,at a couple of Steam Rallies,I know the amount of planning and preparation that goes into it,so good on you.
I hope your reward will come,in the number of exhibitors, and the number of paying visitors to make it a real success.
I will be there, exhibiting god willing, with a never before seen model.and display that is absolutely unique.
So there you go guys, and ladies, come along and support this wonderful show please!
Thanks,

Its been said that :its good to have shows spread around the country:shame that because no more midlands show ie whitwick not on because ;not enough support from local clubs ; well our local club went every year so whats going on because rc boats is the least attended out of the rc model world and seem to need a boast to get it stronger. Been to different shows and seen numbers down on past years at the same shows. But perhaps some people are more biased to certain areas ,some shows in the past are gone and some new ones over the past few years have come along ,the midlands seems to be a no go area regarding model boat shows ,yes I know theres |Warwick in November so seems to be a contradiction to what I'm saying but most show seem to be at the end of the year now. No more ellesmere and whitwick so that's the start of the year gone for shows.yes there is model boat mayhem but that's not classed as a show but even that's getting smaller numbers there.

Post by: Neil on October 21, 2017, 04:50:06 pm

just got home from the first of my two days at the show....made an ass of myself sailing one of my lifeboats....mick French and baloo  taking  it in turns to sail the other one confidently and professionally..........I even forgot which boat I was sailing at one stage...whoops,

All the traders were busy showing and giving advice on their wares and Adrian and Terry were in good form on the Speedline stand. Terry seems to have made great strides in organising the magnificent work and models that Adrian is designing and producing. They make an excellent team and I can see many very happy and satisfied customers in the forthcoming weeks with the delivery of products ordered.
It is a thankless task when you are ill, to keep your head above water, especially when you have and are having problems, but I for one came home happy this afternoon that customers who have already paid for their kits will be wholly satisfied within the next few weeks.

the show itself was  a great testament to all of Dave[Stavros's] and Ians hard work and the crowds shown throughout the day, and not just a surge at certain times shows that this new form of introducing new facets of modelling to the "Ship" show will improve and grow. who would have thought not a couple of years ago that we would have had a man selling magnetic clamps, showing how aeroplane construction can be applied to model ship building, with a side table stacked high with beautiful wood veneers of all sorts of hard woods.

this show just gets better, and i'm glad I am there for two days.

Thanks to all concerned for making this show, my local show...........one which is going from strength to strength.

and don't forget Adrian............I owe you a beer tomorrow.

I too have had a great day at the show, and like Neil, feel I must also compliment Stavros, and Ian,on bringing us all together to make it a wonderful two days.I hope the crowds attending today have made it worthwhile forveveryone, traders and exhibitors alike, and it will happen again tomorrow,Sunday.I have had a lot of interst, and comments about my model of the Solomon Browne Lifeboat, and as an added bonus,I have also sold a couple of copies of the Penlee Lifeboat History.Hopefully there will be some more sold tomorrow.
If you are in the area and havent seen the show, then please come along, there really are plenty of superb models to see,not only of every type of boat you can think of,but trucks, tanks, jcb'sand even Thomas the Tank Engine. For those of you that need some hard to find parts,or even a new model kit,I am sure you will find the many traders in attendance will have it here.

fantastic array of models , and sadly before I could add mike pendlebury's sons LARS  unit to my collection he and dad had gone.........but that should have been added to my personal choice of my own favourite models in the show, in no particular order.

and the final ones as shown, but I have to say that the last two of the diorama of St Andrews Dock hull had to be the one that made the hairs on the back of my neck tingle and above all the models including as you know my preference for model lifeboats, this was the icing on a 5 tier cake.

Why?.

many people who looked at it without looking closely at the trawlers in the dock or reading the folder supplied will not have realised that this was a wonderful, beautiful and fitting tribute and monument to [all] those trawlermen who have been lost with their ships over the past 6 decades of fishing from Britain, and Hull in particular, ..........for every one of the trawlers modelled and in the docks have either been lost with all hands and or sunk with a great loss of life.

And had I not wiped my tears away, coming from another fishing port, Fleetwood with similar losses in my lifetime, I would have made an ass of myself in that busy hall. IT WAS/IS  a wonderful model.Even the tug Lloydsman that took a very "ACTIVE" part in the "cod wars" of the 70'2 was represented at the exit of the main locks to St Andrews dock.

THANKS
Many thanks for posting the pictures, Neil.  I spent far too much of the show wringing sense out of the competition to actually see much of it.
Some statistics - I don't have any idea how many models were there, but, there was over 230 models on the score sheet list that the various "volunteer" judges who gave up a chunk of their pleasure time had nominated.  Hopefully, nobody went away disappointed, because the standard of exhibits was incredibly high, and the winners were truly exceptional.
A really important statistic - the Bring N Buy raised £1147.50 for the RNLI, composed of the commission that is charged, plus some of the items sold are donations.  Last year was amazing, this year was unbelievable.  Thanks to the team for their efforts, also to Component Shop for providing such a generous facility at a show that they are paying for.

And thanks to all who braved the weather to get there.  Without the guests, there is no show.

Had a great time spent some money  :-))  also spent longer than expected watching the trucks, tanks and diggers a nice addition in my view may even be tempted. So will see you next year with grandson so long as you have diggers and lifeboats for him to see lol.
Thanks again for a great Saturday.

Yes, the weather was bad, but it was soon forgotten once inside the halls.
Met lots of very nice people, talking about my boats and exchanging ideas.
Roll on next year, I am sure it will get even better !!.

Hi all the weather this weekend at Blackpool was very windy and wet but the sunshine certainly shone on the Blackpool show. Trade support was excellent. Club stands were all to a very high standard and once again model tanks and trucks proved very popular. May be a sign of things to come in the future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Iain and Natasha and all the staff of Component Shop, Stavros and the Blackpool and Fylde  M B C  for all the hard work that is needed to make the event a success. It was 20  years to the month  since I bought the hull of Gambier Bay from A Seddon at the Blackpool Model show which took place in the Blackpool Tower. This weekend was the last time that Gambier Bay will be seen on public display as it his now getting very hard to transport and put away after shows so now is the time for its retirement. It came as a complete surprise winning best naval vessel, a fitting end to a model  that has been around since 2009. I would like to thank you all for you comments on this model it has made it worthwhile taking it to shows.

Right then an organiser perspective on the show

Thursday....arrived at the venue

At around 7pm  Nige arrived with a van load of Equipment so that was duly offloaded into the hall of the Hotel and Nige went to book into his hotel.
I then started to set out the hall so the lads could in the morning set out the tables.....first job was to move all the show flooring that had been left by a previous show.
Then I started to set up the hall for our club stands,Nige soon arrived back and we then carried on moving the tables to form the basis of the rows.
930 Iain arrived and we then proceeded to put the pool up and water was flowing into it at around 11pm.I must confess that a few pints was also consumed...thirsty work this show malarkey !!!!
We then carried on putting up the rows of tables and then moved all the table stacks into the rows ready for the mng.
The Component shop stand was next and we actually got to bed at 130am
Approx mileage walked 6.5 miles
Friday

Myself and Iain were in the Hall at 7am ready for the lads from Fleetwood and Blackpool clubs to assist with setting up.250 tables were soon put into place in the Main Halls and the Ballroom and all the chairs were put into place.
The pool was filled by around 11am which was a record for us !
Soon the clubs and traders arrived and were soon setting up
The bring and buy was full by around 6pm and boats were being sold even then.
Around 630pm we had a what could be called as a Major panic as Iain noticed the pool sides were bulging so he went out to B&Q and got some plywood and this was soon attatched to the pool sides...crisis over.
A cpouple of traders rang to inform us they were stuck in traffic and asked if we were still there....the Last trader arrived at 11pm and was soon set up and we went to bed at 1130.
Total mileage actually walked was 10.5

Saturday

Myself and Iain were in the hall at 730 and the traders and the club lads arrived and we were ready to open at 10am.
The public simply poured in all day and the girls said it didnt stop till around 330pm.
A rough total for the day was 1100 a Show record for us
Everything was locked down by 6pm and a few more beers were consumed.

Mileage walked was 6.5

Sunday

We were in the hall at 830 ready for the traders and clubs to come in and we opened the doors at 10 am
Yet again the public piled in ok not as busy as the sat But significantly more than last year

The award were presented at 3 and then the big strip down commenced....The pool was emptied and all the tables and show infrastructure was all taken down by 7pm

Mileage walked was 7.5

So the conclusion to this was I actually walked a total of 31 MILES !!!!!!!!!!!...MMMM no wonder my little legs were throbbing

Right then a big congratulations must go to all the show winners in all the categories, especially the Best in show as this was trashed in a break in a few years ago and had to have a new hull and fully rebuilt so in my opinion a worthy winner.

Right then you who attended will have seen my Model railway and some commented Yes we need more...so yes we are branching out next year...excuse the pun....after all it is a model show as well as a Boat show.
Thereare also Big plans for next year as 5 new clubs want to join us...Wait and see is all I can say...it will be Awesome Trust me on this.

Right then I need to THANKS quite a few People for their HELP in putting this show on,and in no particular order either.

The general Public who came to the show
All the clubs who cam and displayed
The St John Ambulance
Blackpool model boat club members setting up and all the donkey work
Fleetwood model boat club members setting up and all the donkey work
Nigel Davies for getting a van load of show stuff up to the venue and all his hard work
The Hotel staff who bent over backwards to help
The girls and David on the front door
Adrian(granddad ha ha) for doing the announcement at the end
Iains Daughters for doing the advance tickets scanning
Kelly my long suffering wife who looked after the girls all weekend and didn't see me at all
Ma and Pa for helping Kelly
Last but not at all least as Believe you Me on this one they both have worked so so hard in putting this on
Iain and Natasha Lewis of Component shop for putting up the monies to run the show

I thank you all for your HELP

Dave....

it was quite a gentle breaze for us lot up on the Fylde coast, john..........we get used to walking at 45 degrees from birth,  {-) {-) {-)

on a serious note.........I loved the way the hall was set out, and made looking at all the models very easy. A first class job and those that all helped to make this, my local show, a great success should be very proud of their efforts.

thank you every one.....it was wonderful, and so nice to meet so many old friends.

Dave, I was there on Sunday and the atmosphere in the 2 halls was superb, the traders seemed to be doing a roaring trade, queues at most stands. the clubs were kept busy with onlookers and happy to answer my questions. the bring and buy seemed well supported and the truck and tank  areas were in use all the time.
The way this year went, I can see you going down the wide corridor towards the rear of the hotel, like it was years ago. more clubs booking, hopefully more traders once the word gets round.

31 miles of walking, several sets of fingernails, sleepless nights, YOU did us proud. Event management is a thankless job, especially when faced with the tailend of a tropical storm. Everyone I spoke to were complimentary.

Just 1 question, how did you get rid of the water from the pool???

My compliments for a superb show

Regards

Mark

Apologies for the delay doing this - been a bit busy the last couple of days! A massive than you to everyone who made the Blackpool Model Show such a great weekend, whilst I put in many. many hours of work to organise the event in advance, it wouldn't have happened without Stavros' help on the run up to & over the weekend, the Blackpool & Fleetwood clubs assistance, George Barnes, Pam, Elaine & David on the door, Jenny & Katya doing their best to scan tickets with faltering wifi, Ann for looking after the pool, John Sidebottom for bringing boats for kids to have a go, Susan & everyone else on the bring & buy, the staff of the hotel for being just superb (the fabric of the Norbreck, as we know, is not without its problems, but the staff were nothing short of brilliant), Chris Burr & the lads from Durham for providing the truck roadway plus of coarse all the clubs & exhibitors for sharing the fruits of their hard work with us all. Last but by no means least is a big thank you to all those who braved a breezy Blackpool to come & visit the show, hopefully you enjoyed it as much as we did.

I know there is another post to this effect, but just in case you haven't seen it, the 2018 Blackpool Model Show will be on the 20th - 21st October (the hotel is already booked) & it will be bigger with even more variety & more stuff that you probably won't have seen before.

Until next time.....

There is also a whole bunch of pictures now on the show web site (www.blackpoolmodelshow.co.uk) If anyone has any interesting pics that they would like including on the site just e-mail them to me at info@blackpoolmodelshow.co.uk
If you have a look at the gallery page on the site, I recommend that you scroll down to the bottom of the page & look at the last video which is the inside of the model garage of John Eva, which I personally found really impressive.
