Hello,
Please note - - - Planet Transmitters do NOT work at this Lake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
John.
how do they not work?????
-
Had a great day well worth the trip from Gateshead.
A big thank you for the welcome.
-
Hello,
Planet transmitters do not work because of a nearby Radio Tower.
The Tower blanks the tranny, giving VERY limited range to boats.
A Club Member should explain what has happened.
John.
-
shouldn't that be with all 2.4ghz???
-
Think the tx is a bit flaky in certain areas.
Some of our members experience loss of
signal at some areas of our lake
Others with the same gear don't have the
problem.
All other makes are solid everywhere.
Think they were banned from yacht
racing in Gosport for the reasons above
Close proximity to a phone mast.

shouldn't that be with all 2.4ghz???
depends on the protocol.

depends on the protocol.
DSM2 or DSMX ?? being new this year I only used DSMX and no problem there

Just to clarify what has been said about planets not working at the rawdon lake. Planets do have a limited range on our lake owing to radio mast on the billings which over looks the lake. Planets to our knowledge is the only system to be affected by the mast and on asking around to the makers and suppliers the answer was that planets are classed has park flyer's and can be swamped when near a mast. i know a few clubs that have this problem and in the years we have been holding the open days at the lake this is the first complaint we have had about this. This also could be one of the reasons that they have withdrawn the sale of the planets. I must say though if any one comes to rawdon and has problems ask for one of the committee members and we can try to resolve any problem. As it was on the open day I had a spare dxi and receiver that you could have used that with no problems at all.

hi
thank you foe explaining :-))

Hello,
A sign at the Lakeside would be a great help.
A lot of people were watching as I rigged my J Class yacht.
The same amount of people watched as I checked that all was working correctly.
The same people watched as I carried the boat to the water and launched it.
The same people watched as the boat sped off into the distance in a good wind.
Yet nobody warned me about the problem that was about to happen.
NO CONTROL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I shouted across to a guy sailing a large tug, to turn my boat around, which he did.
Got the boat back to the launch area.
Then, and only then, was I told of the problems with my transmitter !!!!!!!.
I had travelled 120 miles round trip, to sail for 5 very worrying minutes!.
Since buying the tranny, I have sailed all over the Country, never had any problems, never heard of any.
Knowing there is a problem at the Lake, the Club should be more alert and warn Visitors !!.

Are you sure it's the Lake area JD?! %)
-
Hello,
I had control of my boat only about the length of a Tennis court away from me, more than that it was twitching and then no control.
The chap with the tug steered the boat towards me, when the boat was about the length of a Tennis Court all was well again.
A chap then told me that lots of Club Members had sold their Planet trannys and bought other makes.
There were lots of people about while I was rigging the boat and testing things, yet no body warned me of the danger - - some of them MUST have been Club Members !!!.
Later I walked around in their Club House, and counted 42 yachts !!.
I wonder who else this happened to ??.
Last Event I attended was the Bridlington Open, sailed Friday, Saturday and Sunday - - no problems !!!.
