Title: Help to identify an old model
Post by: Jukebox on November 30, 2017, 05:32:38 pm

Hi
I recently purchased this lovely old model yacht at a local auction. I'm trying to find out more about it. It looks like it may have been a fully made model "RTR" as we would call it today. Its is about 3 feet long and looks to be  made using the bread and butter type construction and then carved out. Its does bear the name " Mary". I'm told it  has been Bermuda rigged and could be a sloop.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks  :-)

Hi Jukebox,

Your model yacht looks like a Bill Daniels designed Midge 36R class.  There is a drawing of one on the Vintage Model Yacht Group website, the link is here:- http://vmyg.org.uk/pages/resources/plans/midge_plan.htm (http://vmyg.org.uk/pages/resources/plans/midge_plan.htm)

Regards

Gareth
