Hi all some of you may remember this
(http://i66.tinypic.com/wqovph.jpg)
Well I did it originally purple and gold but the sun turned the gold to chrome and I hated that sooo, I thought I would try and give it a second chance.
It's going (if my skills are up to it) get this in it
(http://i68.tinypic.com/20svgr6.jpg)
It means a LOT of work (gearbox tunnel to say the least)
Encase anyone has not seen this beast before on top is a 1/32 humber snipe I'm working on.

Hi all well I've made a start on this

And can you guess what this will be.

More work than it appears as the Citroen Light 15 was, if I remember correctly, front wheel drive.
-
Still is I've turned the engine round and mated it to the Citroen transmission a mechanic mate of mine said it was possible (he reckons the transmission wouldn't Last a mile) but is possible so I've gone that route, after all it's only a model. Citroen actually produced a c22 which had a 3.8 litre v8 in the same configuration.
-
:-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Go for it!
-
Have fun! Will it involve off road tyres and other naughty bits?
-
Hi all I will have to move the battery (Not sure where maybe the boot)I think I may be able to shoe horn it in.

it isn't that daft an idea, i've seen a v8 old citroen at santa pod a couple of times! it's a noisy brute.
-
At that scale you are nearer doing it like a real vehicle, so much more fun. I have been watching Project Binky on YouTube but cannot see the point in making and fitting lots of wee plastic panel parts just for the sake of it on a model.
It will be interesting to see how she turns out Ken.

Hi all been messing about with wheels just can't decide does this look ridiculous
(http://i66.tinypic.com/103gysh.jpg)
I really like the small wheels at the front but the rear (although bigger) I think don't look right in the wheel arches (of course I could remove the wheel arches)
Or if I mix wheel rims what about this
(http://i65.tinypic.com/n2d55h.jpg)
Or keeping the same rims (Still smaller at the front)
There is surprisingly very little difference on ground clearance at the front considering how much bigger these wheels are
(http://i67.tinypic.com/2j0m9on.jpg)
-
Hi all well my soldering is world famous for being abysmally poor so here is my best effort at the headlight bar.
I've installed the engine and radiator also done the wheels with the large at the front and small at the rear. Loads of connections still to me made to the engine and got to figure out the exhaust system.

Pimped Out! Lookin Good :-))
Maybe some light green window tint?
-
Sorry Ken, I missed this. I have seen wheel arches cut back to accommodate larger wheels so that is an option if wanting to keep the original tinwork. What you have chosen to do looks good though. Regarding your brass work. I can only see one joint that would be sorted by a good file, otherwise, it looks pretty good, and echos the paintwork well :-))
-
Hi all I'm pretty crap at this sort of thing I want to change the shape of the cars roof first I thought of removing the roof completely and cutting the door pillars to level with the top of the doors.
As you can see I can't do that as the top hinge for the doors is incorporated in the door pillars, then I thought of cutting the rear pillar off level with the base of the rear window but I can't do that as there will be an ugly step at the back, what should I do.

-
This is going to be another kpnuts classic, super job Ken. :-))
Joe.
-
Well my skills are not up to converting it to a 2 door so will this do.
-
Well I thought I would weld the doors shut and de-seam it
(http://i68.tinypic.com/1pbgqt.jpg)
As you can see from the last pic it was a huge mistake it will need a load of sanding and resanding to get anything like a smooth finish (and that's before any custom paintwork)
Anyway I couldn't resist trying it on the chassis, I must say I'm quite excited I think it looks great, at least it's a good framework for a great hot rod.

A bit more filer and some more sanding and you will get there. You probably have less filling and sanding to do than on some plank on frame hulls, so a few sessions and the sides will be as smooth as.
A new roof could be made as a vacuum forming using a solid master to get the shape, and you can make vacuum formers with a wooden box and a Hoover.
-
Hi all well paint job is done (needs a few clear coats and rubbing down to smooth it) I quite like it.

Very nice conversion it looks like something Boyd Coddington would have done 8)
-
Nice :-)) The red stripes really tighten the paint job up.
-
I wonder if that V8 would fit a M4 Mondeo Estate, on second thoughts the cost of petrol and all that %% Lovely job Ken.

Two blokes in Shropshire have been busy shoehorning a 2 litre Celica engine and drive train into a mini, so it is possible to put larger engines into normal cars.
Look up 'Project Binky' on YouTube, the main man Nick is a master fabricator and welder, the car is exactly the same length as a normal Mini as well! There's a new episode due soon.
-
Hi all just a quick update before we're off on our hols I've fabricated the exhausts for it.

Hi all well I'm back off my hols and after a huge amount of hacking and jiggling I managed to make the interior fit.
I changed the centre pillar from leather to wood I like the contrast between the leather and the wood (I think it looks more luxurious)
Still got the dash to do, thinking of adding rev counter and oil pressure gauge, wondering if I should add a more modern Speedo.

Hi all well I don't like the bulge in the boot with the tyre so I'm doing away with it and am going to go without a spare. Not decided yet but I may add a spolier to the boot.

Looks very good.
Don't you dare do that to a full size Traction!
-
Looking good Ken :-)) As for a modern speedo, if you fancy it go for it, if not, go retro. The engine is not a new type is it?
-
I almost hate to be a tad pedantic after all that lovely work you've done, but if that big V8 is going to breathe properly it'll need one more exhaust pipe.
It looks like a small block Chevy engine and the two centre cylinders of each bank had a siamesed exhaust port, and you can see the increased size of the centre port of original cast manifold on the engine. Most rodders fitting straight pipes to small blocks have two similar sized pipes attached to the centre port, thus ensuring the same area of exhaust pipe for each cylinder.
-
Hi all well this is As far as this is going looking like this anyway, it's off the bench while I do a bit of research and catch up on some of my stalled builds.
When it returns to the bench I'm going to attempt to do it as a steampunk car.

A lovely job. TBH I am not keen on the exhaust but that's just me.

Looks good Ken, your projects are always interesting so what's next ?
