Title: Speedline Tamar Lester 1/12
Post by: Holger on October 11, 2018, 06:25:50 pm
Speedline Tamar Lester 1/12

now I'm a proud owner of the kit in 1/12 ..
au man is the big .. lol ..
I'm really looking forward to building that .. !!!!!!!!

It will still take some time until I am in the cellar of the new apartment electricity and light but until then I am diligently gathering information and worrying about how I can later realize my wishes in the reality .. it should then in my model like that much like me is possible to move and work as well as the big model ..

as soon as it starts I will share my progress with you here ..

I hope that it works with the pictures ..

If you think that is big,you had better not buy a Severn model or a Clyde model in the same scale lol👍👍

Hoi Mick ..

I was only surprised by the size .. Although I have used a ruler when ordering .. but he does not show the true dimensions .. lol ..

but now I'm happy about it ..

my first work will be the grinding of the hull .. from the bow tip extends over the keel to the heel seams .. below the tailgate are also seams and at the transition from the hull to the deck are almost all around smaller dents and corners ..

they have to get away so that the hull is perfect too ..

the actual work with the keels begins ..

drive search ..

by Adrian and some others, the emax 4030 is recommended .. but after intense search, I find him not .. he will probably no longer manufactured ..
by a note from Taranis I came across the Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 4250-410KV ..

and that will probably be my drive setup ..

I recommend you buy a programming card as well .....  https://hobbyking.com/de_de/hobbyking-boat-esc-programming-card.html
My Tamar never needed higher than 25 amp fuses with similar motors.
Many are using the same motors with the Speedline Shannon and have found the Turnigy ESCs to be a better product....

https://hobbyking.com/de_de/catalogsearch/result/?cat=&q=+9261000054-0 ( 50 amp )  or https://hobbyking.com/de_de/catalogsearch/result/?cat=&q=9261000056-0  ( 90 amp )

plus the card to match...  https://hobbyking.com/de_de/catalogsearch/result/?cat=&q=9261000059-0

I agree with Alan and I use the 50amp Turnigy marine ESC too. Despite numerous thrashings they won't take out a 25 amp fuse  :-))  I no longer fit fuses and rely on the ESC to protect itself.

They are on the lower equipment shelf with servos and pumps.

A different boat yes and we use 1185kv 35-42 which may not be suitable for the Tamar so I would stick to the tried and tested.

After a long break, I now report back .. Meanwhile, the heart of Tamar has arrived and I have started to drill the rudder blades .. and although I have bored very slowly is partially way the half millimeter from the edge melted as I think .. but if I embed the 4 mm stainless steel rod, the holes are filled again .. after grinding the rudder shape and painting it will be nothing to see ..

Hoi Ginger

I let them have 3D print from the company ..

https://www.3dnetzwerk.com/zeitdruck/

but surely there is someone near you who can print them for you .. I have a drawing with the measurements from the article here by OVL - TAMAR Speedline 1/12 - made page 2 and sent to the company ..

greetings Holger

yes Taranis ..

Did you get an STL file from the 3D printing company, or did you send them one?

Neither Lance nor .. I have sent him a drawing with the measurements .. he then gave me a picture of the model if it is ok for me or if I may have change requests .. he has then changed something .. me again then sent a picture again and I then gave my ok to print .. but you will surely find someone near you or on the island .. from here, too, the shipping would be very expensive ..

now it goes slowly forward .. first I would like to prepare the hull for painting and then drill everything .. grind .. this should also come to the two water inlets on the rear fuselage bottom .. but since they are not shown in the plans I need now necessarily the dimensions for the right position ..

It would be great if someone could help because they belong to the boat and 2. I would like to use them to cool the two controllers.

Thank you, Holger says

Hi Holger,

If the location is not shown on the drawings, you can always use photos to find the location. I found this one on the net which may assist you. Water Inlet is circled.

This is what I let into the hull, they’re commercial aluminium inlets.

The centre of the block is 145mm from the stern and 38mm from the chine. They’ll have the oval grills added when I’Ve made some.

Cheers

Hoi Charlie ..

the picture is awesome .. !!! because of the arrangement of the main engine sea water inlets .. but also the many other details .. - keels .. and so on ..

where did you find it in the net .. ??

I wish you and your family a happy new year ..
Title: Re: Speedline Tamar Lester 1/12
Post by: Holger on December 30, 2018, 12:23:30 pm
yes Gingyer ..

that's exactly what I meant .. it's just the measure to see the keel. , the other measure is unfortunately no longer visible in the picture and that's what I was still looking for ..

I wish you and your family a happy new year ..

it continues with your help ..
marked the line for the rudder and stern tube feedthrough and started to drill ..

I hope it is on the pictures to recognize that although the teaching with the stern tubes exactly in the middle of the keel was the left circle 5mm lings further lay .. I have therefore made a cardboard template and so drawn the line in the middle of the tunnel afterwards ..

good Morning

I would soon like to install the shaft system .. now I have seen that the threaded piece is very short .. if I turn the ship's screw on it is no more space for a lock nut ..

How did you do it .. ?? a picture would be great ..

thanks in advance, Holger says

Now I'm a bit further ..  :-)  The openings for the two stern tubes are drilled .. the holes for the lower water inlets marked .. the keel extension is glued and the adjustment to the keel is also grout and sanded .. unfortunately I only after the adhesive was already dried on a photo of the original seen the keel area between the trunk and the keel extension to the end is tapered and half round .. that cost me a lot of time because I have so bad with tool to change / grind I would have come .. if I had cut out the keel extension again, I would have better come to the grinding but it would have cost me even more time with the re-adjust and wait until the glue is dry again for it .. but I am satisfied with the result anyway. ,
the tailgate is also finished except for the upper side and I can start with the other fit into the trunk .. when the finished is still the recess for the four-part flaps on the back deck off ..
also the openings for the bow thruster are drilled ..
GOD THANKS to you the filling and especially the grinding slowly towards the end ..

Now I thought that I am almost finished with the spatula and grind and now that although I have seen the picture often I am the error between the kit hull and the original - the Kontuten in the red circle - so far not noticed .. but still better now than later when the model is almost done ..

So I stuck with thin wooden strips a small form to the tailgate and filled with my 2-component filler .. maybe this evening when it is dried it is sanded and then adjusted in the next days in the hull ..

but it is called "MODEL BUILDING" .. O0 O0 O0

Now I have both controllers - Turnigy Marine ESC 90A - programmed and if I plug them individually at the receiver you run .. because I want to run both motors s.einer receiver channel I have heaped on a regulator + cable and with a Y-cable with connected to the receiver .. now but only the engine runs with the three cables and where I pulled out the + cable beeps only as not yet programmed ..

what is not working .. ??

Hi Holger
These pumps change all the time on eBay as stock sells out. The ones I bought are advertised as 12 volts but run happily at much less like 5volts
Just search eBay for self priming micro pumps for a selection

well ..

finally this year is almost over ..

It started with an illness at the beginning of the year and a necessary operation in the hospital .. after recovering, I went back to my job where I was very busy the whole year .. so I couldn't continue building at all .. thank god it was it was a bit quieter in autumn and I could FINALLY continue building again ..

but i used the recovery time and looked around the net for all sorts of information about the great role model .. and lo and behold ..

I found more than what I was looking for .. !!!!!!!!!

I discovered the following two sides ..

https://matterport.com/de/media/2518
https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=n8zEKKbKMaG

YOU ARE THE HAMMER .. !!!!!!!!!! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

there you can look around virtually on and in the boat and even measure everything ..

I found some details that differ from the blueprint and that I now had to change again.

For example, I redesigned the four flaps over the Y.boat .. this time only from 2mm thick plexiglass and the two middle ones are narrower than the outer ones .. and this time also scaled down ..

and the front and rear support of the panels are now in a slight curve .. just like the curved deck shape ..
I also changed the hinges for the plates .. I soldered the two original holes closed .. and had small circles engraved in the hinges in an engraving shop .. that's five because each hinge is attached with five screws on the original .. and they are then countersunk by the thickness of the hinge so that only the round part stands over the plates .. so it is more true to the original and I like it much better that way ..

it's going on again ..

the squirrel eats idle ..  :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:
