Mounting motors 180 from the prop shaft
« on: April 17, 2008, 01:10:02 pm »

Hi to Everyone, I am building a baitboat for carp fishing from a pre moulded hull that I bought from EBAY. Is it a possibility to mount the motor 180 degrees to the prop shaft using UJ's or should use some other method? Any advice would be gratefully received.

If you run one of these you can also run a bigger prop
so you wont have to turn it as fast and wont scare the fish and te motor will be 180 deg you hust turn the shaft around in it so the take off is at the back, or knock the bearings out and slice it on the shaft you have

Or use one of those Graupner units that are built that way.

Which are possibly the most noisy drive option you can get! I used to have one of these in a boat, always knew where it was just listen!

Right, why have a prop, fishing line and props hmmm especially if your taking the line out and dropping it with the bait, that could be disaster.  What about jet drive, small compact, self contained steering system etc... worked for me O0

Belt drive with pulleys is silent and by changing a pulley will change the gear ratio.
You can use either toothed belt or a simple "O" ring.
Colin Bishop uses this system sucessfully he might be able to produce a pic or 2.
