also I managed to capture a fast boat's prop vortex :D finally!

maybe with stronger light and clearer water, the results will be better.

A fast racing cat? Was it being chased by a greased weasel or a hot dog? I think we should be told!

Hi Just back from a rather damp Wicksteed..... sniff, drip squelch.  :(

Rain stopped play today, same as last year.... shall we go for the triple?

Some nutters, sorry, 'die hards'  still came out in the rain today and there was hot coffee and tea
while we played batting Spinners from under the shelter of the Mayhem marquee.... Chingdevil won with his
unstoppable, semi dynamic diving Pepsi Springer.... did anyone actually see inside that thing? It seemed quicker,
stronger and more nimble than all the others.... nearly sank StreamboarPhils's Battle class Spring that I was coxswain on!   :-\
Stavros wanted to join in but Thunderbird 2 Springer was out of commission ( due to a launch sequence error....
the palms tree didn't lean back far enough.... but the rocket blast smoke was very realistic, along with the smell.....
unfortunately of burning electrics as the magic smoke escaped :( ), so Stav got out his large TID tug and chased us all off.   {-)

Jag (Palaform) then let me have a go with one of his hover craft, very interesting in that weather!  :o
Turns out I'm 'rubbish' at steering hovercraft but was good fun And I didn't crash it!

The yachts decided to keep playing in the rain and a guy with a couple of nice warships joined in but it was too much for for me as I was totally soaked through any at 11:00 and we all decided to call it a day.

Captain Kirk and Stavros helped me take down the Mayhem marquee as Bradders said he had to pop back to the caravan
for ......something., strangely enough, he returned just as we had fished packing everything up.   :-X

Well that's it for another year.
I toughly enjoyed myself and everybody I spoke to seemed to as well.... mind you I asked them;
"Stay it was a good weekend or do you like the taste of lake water?!"  ;D

Special thanks goes out to:
You for coming, those that were able too,
( Mustang Mark, Mrs Mustang, Hanna, Stavros, SteamboatPhil and even Ghost camped and made me laugh till it hurt!)
The Wicksteed Park management team,
The Wicksteed Park model boat club, ( Martin Dale and David Dorrington. )
Steam boat Phil - a truly enthusiastic, generous and hilarious bloke,
Mrs Mayhem, Captain Kirk & Gina,
.....and last and least - BRADDERS without whom, believe me, this event wouldn't have happened! Top bloke.  O0

More photos to follow when I've warm ed up and dried out.....  ;)

It's all my fault, Martin.....

Yesterday here in France I had lousy weather and gave you the sun but today I had the sun and sent you the rain!

Some great feedback, you all seemed to enjoy yourselves, well done everyone.

P.S. Martin, not forgot my promise as an "absent supporter" just a bit delayed.

Just got home wet, cold tired and hungry!!!!!!!!!! What an excellent weekend we all had special Personal thanks from  me must go to MARTIN AND BRADDERS without you there would not be this event.

I must admit it was so nice to meet all you guys to just put a face to a name, and what has really cheered me up is the amount that have promised to come up to the LLanberis weekend.
Yes true to form I did it again it was My speedy boat that got stuck on the steering cross, now wonder what I can do NEXT year,I also managed to dissconoperate both springers, one burnt out motor in Thunderspringer and Gremlins in Captain Pugwash so it was an excellent weekend ,I WILL BE BACK.

Special mention must go to Steamboat Phil for letting me catch his boats on the steering course but it was him who was CHICKEN and would not put the fast one out.Not to be outdone I decided to have a go at this straight running lark,so to practice I decided to go through the steering canal, and then through the springer goal posts and then scored a PERFECT 10 score in the straight running course and as Phil said he was watching the radio and the rudder WAS NOT USED and he he I used a MARBELHEAD YACHT  O0 O0 O0.Funny thing was Phil then decided to have a wobbler,he has now decided this straight running is not for him and he has now taken up Flower arranging, his own words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will post some photos up tomorrow when I have dried out

Thanks again lads a jolly good show roll on next year,NO WAY  Hang on LLANBERIS HERE WE COME AUGUST 30, 21  2008

Just had a call from a friend who lives in Norfolk to tell me that they had just seen me on their local news.

If you got http://www.itvlocal.com/anglia/news/ it’s about 9 minutes 15 seconds from the start.
Not sure how long it will be up for but it comes across well. You may be able to spot yourself. I'm the mug at the start after the shot of the Lifeboat. {-) {-) {-)

Just like to add a big thank you to Martin and Bradders from the Lifeboat Display Team.

Once again a fantastic weekend, well done Martin and Bradders also a big thank you to Mrs Martin for all the tea and coffee very much appreciated.
The weather was the same as last year, which means I have just dried out but my gazebo will take a week or two. It was great to meet so many Mayhemers, old and new.

The new thing has to be Sumo Springers, I appeared to have the best set up until Stavros put his TID on the water. A member from the Wicksteed club was impressed even though I nearly put his springer under water and put a gouge in one side.

I think the straight running competition has got too easy if a model running backwards can win :o :o :o :o :o

Only managed Saturday, so missed the really bad weather. Just like to say that the Mayhem weekend brings together the sort of cameraderie that so many other Model Boating venues lack. It's simply the best. Martin and Bradders, you deserve a medal! Don't let the weather put you off - you must return next year. I live just down the road from Wicksteed, and if you need any help in next years set up, just let me know. Kenny - Good to see your Typhoon. Splendid job and looks great in the water!

Hey, that's the way it goes sometimes, can't blame anyone for abandonment what with that horrible weather. Anyhow, journey wasn't a total waste, popped in to see my brother in law at St Neots on the way home which cheered up her indoors no end. As I say, will try again next year, though it might test my powers of persuasion to the limit  ;D

Yep, that was probably us, absolutely no apologies necessary. To be honest I had an inkling when I woke up this morning & poked my head through the curtains, nice weather for ducks I think it's called  ;D Besides, if I hadn't been there I'd almost certainly be getting dragged around some awful shopping maul somewhere.
The lot that were camping must have been in a terrible state. Let's hope next year is 3rd time lucky  O0

I was there on Saturday only due to the weather forecast, had a great day , bit windy but alteast it was dry, my usual model show companions could not make it so I came on my own , my wife said to me won`t you be bored on your own? not the case at all, as per usual all the familiar faces there to chat to and those I did`t know soon became friends.

That`s one of the great things about this hobby eveone is so friendly ,exchanging ideas , help with builds etc.
thanks to "ghost in a shell "for taking some pics earlier in this thread (thats a good one of my Arun lifeboat at full throttle) saved that one ! cheers.
The event was a credit to those who organised it not just Martin and Bradders who worked hard all day organising comps and giving running commentary but to the backroom boys who ever you are -well done!

Paul.
