Martin

Come on, more info please. For those of us mere mortals who unfortunately missed this prestigious occasion who was the deserving winner?

Sorry Doug,

A special award was given to Phil Abbott ( SteamboatPhil ) for services to
'Mayhem at Wicksteed Weekends' way above the call of duty

Phil loaned us a very expensive Radio mic,
Provided prizes for various fun competitions throughout the weekend,
Provided much of the Tea, coffee, Sugar, etc.
Did the straight running demonstrations,
Set up his own display of steam boats,
and is one of the most enthusiastic model boaters I've ever met.
.... and a thoroughly nice bloke to boot!

I'll get the photos sorted and we'll tell you about the straight running competition!
Phil will never live it down! {-) {-) {-) {-)

PS: Bradders helped a bit and got a large bottle of his favorite tipple for his trouble..... he should resurface about Thursday!  ::)

Thanks Shipmate60 and Martin.

A very deserved recipient indeed.  O0

I'm still mad at SWMBO who double booked me, and the lunch was mediocre.  :'(

cheers

Doug

PS I'm surprised Bradders will be out until Thursday with a bottle of J20 Apple and Mango

A big thank you to Martin and Bradders who thought I was deserving of the award, and of course to Guy who made a fantastic job of it. I does hold pride of place on the shelf, and I feel very proud (and indeed humble ) to have received it, for doing what I, and all us Mayhemers really enjoy doing, boating and talking boats (humm maybe the problem is shutting me up !!!!!)

Then again Ken i have joined your very exclusive club of sinking :'(
I should of sealed the deck down really so its my own fault the wet stuff got in, still on the other hand she was doomed when the cruiser and I struck ::)

Still she run with the bigger lifeboats for 15 minutes before she sounded the DIVE, DIVE, DIVE  {-)

Pictures added - Martin
:
The sinking,
The salvage,
The prize for the weekend's only sinking!... we should have got Kenny to present the award!  {-)

OK folks - here it is - Wicksteed 2008 - the video

Unfortunately due to some  circumstances at home I haven't been able to do more than a very little editing (adding a title, eliminating the parts where I forgot to switch off the camera and got lots of sky and editing out some audio swearing in the background) so enjoy what there is.

Is it just me and my computer?

Don's video was less than 20% buffered after 1 minute and the Youtube bit will not load at all.

Thanks a lot for the video! Not many people like to get a camera in the face, but for us who couldn't get there it was great to get names and character to the faces and it made me smile. And all the fantastic boats in action! Seems like you had a great time, wish I could have come too! Please more of this if someone is sitting on a video.

Wish I was there.
Bit far to come, (and getting a bit long in the tooth) maybe one day if I'm spared.  The video made it for me I have been reading Mayhem for some time now (5days20hrs45min so it tells me) and its a real faovourite port of call. Well done Martin you have started something here.
I'm enjoying BY's reminises of life in the RFA many is the chuckle over recognisable little incidents.
Keep up the good work and I look in again tonight for the next installments.
