looks good :) do you have any troubles with the Jib not setting propperly with teh fore braces and bowlines ?

I dropped Somers just now and she`s all in a sorry state.. looks like she had a brush with a squal, the foretopgallant mast went by the bord taking all teh stays and jibs with it.. now i`m cleaning up the wreakage..
My ships seem to take the strongest beating in storage and transport...

I cut my jib's Yankee fashion (high in the foot) so they don't foul the Braces and Bow lines ( this is one of the advantages of running the braces Cutter stile ie: to the bow spirit as they are mostly clear of sails )

I too find I get more damage in transport to and from the lake side than I ever get from sailing

it's just one of those things no matter how you try something allways gets snagged or fouled or gets knocked and broken.....but other than locking the model up in a bullet proof glass case I don't know of anyway to stop the transport damage.
But no drought we will know get a lot of suggestions from our readers

(transport boxes are too Big, expensive, Heavy & take up to much room...

I have some diagrams of Jack line reefing which is the systime I allways use on square riggers and usually use on fore and afters (some times I use slab reefing on fore & afters)
I'll try to get it posted by tomorrow night

To put in a reef, slack the jeers and the lifts ... this will lower the yard slightly....lift the cringles on each side of the sail and hook them to the yard ... this is all you have to do to reef the sail ....To make every thing tidy and seaman like reeve the reefing pennet through the jack line on the front of the sail then over the yard and through the jack line on the back of the sail...keep lacing it back and forth over the yard and tie off at the end ...I often replace the reefing pennet with a pipe cleaneror a bit of fuse wire
1 - 2 or 3 reefs can be put in a sail ... when you've done it once ore twice it only takes about 1 minet to put a reef in

This is the way I rig my deadeyes ...If I use shop bought ones I redrill the holes too 1.5mm... On most rigging jobs I thread the rigging through a needle or at least stiffen the end with glue I then setup the deadeyes on the shrouds and chain plates... and then reeve off the lanyards. I find this is the easiest way for ME to get the correct tension

Bin watching Star Gate Universe (Yep I'm a Sci Fy Buff) on Sky TV on Tuesday nights and missed one.... someone sent me info. on how to retrieve that episode which I must have inadvertently coped on one of my diagrams
Sorry about that, My Daughters & Granddaughters say it's down to old age, The Boss says it's down to amount of Mead & Rum ... I say its down the the lack of Mead & Rum Mm-mm... also Malt whiskey and Gin ..Wine and other Brain lubrication fluid.

It's nice to get a pat on the back, But I don't really deserve it, all I do is muddle through the building of a model the way I think it should be...My models are almost completely scratch built without plans (Those are mostly In My Head)or measurements ...often only from a picture in a book or a photo ... Thats why when people ask me for dimensions I have to go and find a yardstick and as for scale I call it back seat scale (it fits on the back seat of my car) ...As for the brilliant photos of my models ,,,the out of focus ones are the ones I took (I can't take photos for toffee) The really good ones like the one of "Freebooter"trying to run you down Were taken by Rob Our club secretary (In a set of waders up to his wast for that shot) Juley/ Mark & Roy also club members Took smashing shots as did Roger & Tony H from Essex. And not to forget our very own Martin from Mayhem..So you see I can only take a bit of credit for shaping and painting some bits of wood and tying on some string and bits of cloth . not for the photos
But I Will have a tot thank you

Lately I have been using figures Called (TUBE AVENTURE PIRATES this consists of 7 figures, a cannon. some powder barrels and a skeleton for £6.99 from our local kids toy shop The company that makes them is The Figures are about 50mm tall (about 2" in real money)

if you look In the Thread on Yachts and Sail R&D (18th Century Lugger ) all the crew om "Wolfs Head " are theses figures...

This is Wyven in a new suit of sails Sunday 7 March 2011 Our club changed lakes Early in the new year Courtesy of Middleton Aggregates (Nice Lake) out in the wilds but no fish or fishermen

Sorry still havn't got any pix of her with the square top sail set ... its just been too windy

had black rose out on sunday on a tether but on edge when swaul hit her as picture shows....but fun to sail . i also thing of new sail suit abit more mass and
