1....Refurbishing a MH&B Seekadette bought as a pigs ear off E-bay for £350
2....Almost finished a Customs Cutter Sentinel bought as a part started, half kit off E-bay for coppers.... contacted  Model Slipway to purchase the fittings for it and they were most helpful.

Working at the Kitchen table as its too nippy in the shed..... I'm allowed to display the Seekadette on a long narrow console table even though its not finished.... must be good !

Yes .... a brand new Cheddar Vee Twin and boiler.... perhaps a little under powered but at £350 for the whole lot I didn't baulk at it.

I'm about to get it tested at the Swindon Model Boat Club.... hopefully this weekend at the first of their Lakedays of the season.

With no experience of Steam the original builder decided to fit an electric motor to get the boat on the water quickly, so the engine was supplied untouched as purchased from Cheddar... as I said the build was  an absolute pigs ear pigs ear and has taken considerable reworking .

When I got the boat home I stripped off all the brass fittings, soaked the hull and superstructure in the bath until it fell to pieces, then assessed a full rebuild using new mahogany and lime.
I believe some of the original wooden parts were of apple/pear which has an almost scale, very fine grain but I'm happy with what I done so far.

Kind regards

1:  Stand-off model of MV Rassay
1: Invented version of "Crane Barge i or ii" -I'll call it iv or v or summit like that
1: Freelance shelter deck trawler based on Amera Vac Formed mouldings -just found out the original boats had IV Inverness links!

2:  All of above
2: 44" Sangsetia PX11 -long term project now!

3:  All of the above bar Sangsetia

1/ Taken a 1/200 FG hull of the "Bismark" and turning into a 1/48 model of a circa 1900 steam yacht.

2/ Hull nearly done, doing superstructure now so in the water this summer.

3/ See above. :D

Making progress on a Fairey River Cruiser prototype and have cut out the timbers for a Swordsman ready for building. Then will start cutting out the timbers for a Huntsman 28.

Hopefully all will be completed this year!

:-).....and FF says.............1/ Taken a 1/200 FG hull of the "Bismark" and turning into a 1/48 model of a circa 1900 steam yacht.

This will be very interesting.......the two do have a few certain similarities'...namely they both have a hull  {-)

Mind you, I will probably humbly eat my words when you post some images  :-X

I think it will be very very sleek, and with the right funnel etc, will be more rakish than the battleship  :-)

Its a bit different, the beam/length ratio is correct for a steam yacht of that era, I got an old book from the states that has lots of pictures in so its a mix of styles, its had a new bow, and the prop shafts are flared in, all existing portholes sanded out. She is called "Sheena Dee"  and has a true scale length of 316.8 ft and a beam of 43.52 ft, twin funnels, two masts, will try to upload some pics. FF

This is the "Sheena Dee" its based on the 1/200 hull of "KM Bismarck" it will be a modern day replica 1/48 of a gentleman's steam yacht circa 1900s, you can keep your "Sunseekers, Fairlines, Azimuts etc" for the bathtub  :embarrassed:  so apologies to the purists, for my interpretation of how I see a new build to look like. I have made a few mistakes, the main one is the bow thruster a little too far back, lack of space in the bows is my excuse  ok2  .FF

I expected a smaller yacht of the sort you might find on Windermere. She looks good, definitely still sleek  O0

Hi all

Currently finishing the Hachette "HMS Hood" - starting the rigging, all sub assemblies built, I've had to scratch build replacements for some of the white metal parts which were poor (long story), majority of the painting complete, display stand underway.
I'll post some pics when its done.

I have a couple of 1:32 WW1 aircraft kits on the go - bought cheap to refine my detail work and airbrush technique. I enjoy these kits as a break from the big stuff so there will always be a couple on the go, I recently invested in some Wingnut Wings Kits which are the best, can't wait to start them.

Next project will probably be one of several 1:350 scale kits of British warships - HMS Repulse or HMS Warspite

My next big build will probably be the Italeri S100 Schnellboot.

Waiting in the wings are the Revell Flower Class Corvette kit with Great Little Ships Upgrade kits, HMS Monitor HMS15 and the Deans HMS Hannibal but they are for the future.

Sounds like I'm busy but now that I'm retired I can crack on.

Hi James 59. Referring to your aircraft kits, I'm on the lookout for 1:144 Hellcats or Vaught Corsairs.  Any leads? I have three of each for my HMS Goliath which is nearing completion but need some more to fill the deck a bit more. I may build these extra from the sketches on the plan. Cheers. Brian

Hi
Hannants are your best bet, I've attached the web address below, I had a quick look and AFV Club have a new kit out this year which you could pre order. Couldn't see a hellcat but there are a lot of Manufacturers out there and Hannants have most of them covered.

Hope this helps
