Building progressing slowly as abit cold in the garage lately.
Have just finished what I call the VENTURI rail on a few levels of the super structure.

Take approx 200 11mm x 2mm triangles

Glue to shaped timber solid railing.

Add top deflector made from styrene plastic.

Completed VENTURI railing. In all about 3 hours work.

Next step is to fit superstructure bodies and then assemble Superstructure  tower

Well its warmed up a bit so can venture into the garage at night and build some more. Work also is quiet so spending most days there too.
Here are some photo's of progress to date on the superstructure. Awaiting some paints from W.E.M. so can apply camoflage prior to final assembly.

The many pieces which will be mated together to form superstructure tower.

Superstructure from side.

Superstructure from rear.

Hope this gives you an indication of what she will look like completed.
Cheers till next update.
Adrian.

Looking Great Adrian - when you see the complicated lines of the superstructure I'm glad I'm only building
a destroyer.  Look forward to next update.

You're doing a great job on a beautiful ship. It'll be really worth it in the end.

Well with the end of the year looming I thought it was time to get ready to continue my build of the Richelieu. Having moved house in Feb and all boats stored at the back of the garage behind all the usual house hold STUFF it is just about at the front now. So took the hull back to my friend Art in Auckland to allow him to finish th plug and turn out some hulls. That will leave me time to paint the superstructure and assemble more of the fittings. Photo is of me at Arts workshop with superstructure placed as he had not seen it for over two years. She will be a fine model when finally finished. Trying to get sorted for the Armistice weekend regatta in Cambridge next year.

Will keep posted on progress.
Have a great Christmas and New Year. Boxing day here already. Santa was kind this year but sadly no models or tools. Oh well these always my Birthday in June.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Yes look like scratch built. At that size either 1:96 or closer to 1:100.
Thanks for the heads up.

Well after many years in the making I now finally have the hull in the workshop.
Looking forward to starting work on her.
My fibre glass guy says the mould is good for 8-10 hulls. If anyone interested please contact me for price.

Cheers.

Thanks for your comments Ray.
I'm no expert. This is only my third model. And first mostly scratch built. I'm still learning too.
Cheers.

Photos of painted superstructure.
As seen in earlier photos on here all scratch built.
As the paint is a good MATT finish I was wondering about a spray of MATT sealer just so the dust over the years does not get too deep into it and is then not able to be brushed off. Any suggestions.

I remember you doing all those little angle stiffeners. You have caught the look of the superstructure well.

As for Matt varnish, it will at least protect the paint from light dinks, but as for sticky dust prevention I am not sure.

Thanks.
Will try a sample on a separate piece and leave it out and see what happens.
Just noticed also how small the superstructure is in comparison to the Missouri behind it under the cover.

They will interesting sailing together.

This seems to be the course for battleships with all their main armament up front as the Nelsons have less superstructure, though it is blockier than the Richeleiu's.
