I started off my seagoing career with Manchester Liners so spent many a long hour on stand by going up the "ditch".

I'd have loved to have been with your guys sailing up familiar waters again.

We only went from Ellesmere Port to Weston Point, about 7 miles.

Heres the fleet at the Boat Museum the day before.

Nine steel boats and our Norman 25...(the white plastic one)

I was actually there in March for the Ellesmere Model Boat Club day.  I took a load of photo's of the Cuddington for some superb references for weathering.  Great place and they opened everything up even though it was pre season.  I could have stayed a lot longer in the engine shed!!

I joined the M/v Baron Kinaird and the SS Baron Ardrossen in Manchester  In 65 and 67 out bound for the Far East via Florida, Panama, Pitcairn island Kiwi, Aussie Singapore Hong K and so on... The first was a 2 year trip the 2nd 18 months... In those days you had a black foam on your bow wave in the canal but it was a great place to get rid of sea growth and barnacles ... Nice pictures ...Changed a bit but still Brings back old times...
