480BB RACE and Billing Boats Phantom
« on: November 03, 2009, 11:55:21 am »

I have just picked up a new Graupner GRP6327 Speed 480 BB Race Motor fo use in my phantom.

I have a question tho will I need to change the prop.

Also will the 7.2V NiMh packs I have from my RC Monster Truck and 25A Robbe Speed controller be man enough for the job?

The Battery packs are 3200 and 4000Mah and one 1400 (Came with the Billing Boats RC Kit)

or would some of these be better?

I understand using lipos can be dangerous I would need a different charger and also a balancer.  Could someone reccomend a good charger balancer combo thats not going to cost an arm and a leg

Start off with the stock propeller and see how good that is first, you may find it's prefect!

A 25Amp speed controller should be fine. I'd fit a 20Amp fuse between the motor and speed controller for safety.

Try the 7.2V NiMh packs, you may find they're  prefect!  :-))

Duly purchased on fleabay  :} gonna test them in the monster truck  %%

would it be safe to put tamiya style connectors on them?

Also what would be a good charger balancer for them.  They seem to vary in price from about a tenner to a few hundred quid

Ditch the tamiya plugs. Get some gold male \ female bullet connectors, should only cost about a quid more than the horrid tamiya things.

Could you supply a link to the plugs you have in mind as I looked and there are many to choose from  :-))
