A couple of us from Norwich would like to come for the weekend (please check the ambiguity on the dates above) assuming it is Saturday through to Monday,
Neither of us have been before so don't quite know what to expect, (apart from the  'Banter' from those on here!)
Will us 'guests' be allowed to sail or is it Club members only?
Are scale warships welcome?
What about displaying 'work in progress' builds?
(I have a half finished Hermes as seen on modelwarshipsuk.co, plus other boats if people would be interested.)

Is power available for those of us with 'tin tents' (medical requirement) on the campsite?
I trust we book pitches as per the Wicksteed website?

Sorry for so many questions Martin

Rex

First off you are already a member of the club, so you and other members from Norwich are more than welcome to come. Scale warships are welcome, any thing that floats is welcome you can also display work in progress though you might want a gazebo to protect it from the usual bank holiday weather. Some of us get there on the Friday to set things up, so if you want to come then and pitch in no problems
I am pretty sure there is no power on the camp site, and you book the pitches through Wicksteed.

See you then

If you need electricity for help with a disability I would be sad if the management at Wicksteed would not make a special arrangement for you.

Ask them.

Sumo Springer Rules

Springers must conform to the standard Springer configuration: - correct size 18 x 8, maximum 550 motor, maximum voltage 7.2volts, no Korts nozzles and the rudder must be a maximum of 4 square inches
The Competitors will start in the centre between two sets of markers
Competitors must attempt to push their opponents through the markers
Once the front of the pushing Springer reaches the markers it is declared the winner of that push
The competition will be on both Saturday and Sunday
Each round will last a maximum of 3 minutes, unless a Springer is pushed through the markers
After the 3 minutes have elapsed if neither Springer has been pushed out, the pushing Springer nearest the opponent’s markers is the winner
The winner of each round will go forward to the next
Competitors must register with Chingdevil, before or on the day so they can be put in the draw.

Springer Balloon Bursting Rules

Springer’s must conform to the standard Springer configuration:- correct size 18 x 8, maximum 550 motor, maximum voltage 7.2volts, no Korts nozzles and the rudder must be a maximum of 4 square inches
The Competition will take place in a 2metre square ring; competitors will be disqualified if they leave the ring
Competitors must attempt to burst the balloon mounted on the rear of the Springer using a pin mounted on the front of their Springer
The balloon must be attached at the rear of the springer at deck level
The balloon bursting device must be mounted at deck level on the front of the springer knees
If a balloon should fall off a Springer the clock will stop and the competitor must come to the side and re-attach it, during this time the other competitor cannot move under power.
If a balloon should burst and it had not been burst by the opposition, the clock will stop and the competitor must come to the side and refix it, during this time the other competitor cannot move under power
The competition will be on both Saturday and Sunday
Each round will last a maximum of 3 minutes, unless a balloon is burst
If after 3 minutes have elapsed no balloons have been burst, the competitors will be reset for another try. If after a further 3 minutes no balloons have been burst, the winner will be decided by which competitor tried the hardest to burst a balloon
The winner of each round will go forward to the next
The equipment to attach the balloon to the springer and the device to burst the balloon will be supplied on the day
Competitors must register with Chingdevil, before or on the day so they can be put in the draw

Actually I am with you on that one Bill.

If anyone needs an area for their models, I will only have one table in my gazebo so there is some spare space.

Just saw this on the Positive Weather Soloutions web site, looks promising for Wicksteed

Brian

May 2010

An unsettled start to the month, with some rain around, possibly heavy, broken up with some drier and brighter spells of weather.  The rain will continue to feature into the second week, and there is a chance that there may even be a slight cause for concern with flooding, but the confidence on this isn't high.  Temperatures will be on or above the average, so at least it will feel pleasantly mild for the first part of May.

By mid-month, the Atlantic influence begins to wane, and the weather shows signs of breaking into a stable pattern of weather, with some dry and sunny Spring days. Temperatures will be on the warm side, so a pleasant period through the middle part of May.

Whilst there is the potential for some rain for the final third of May, and indeed some extended periods of rain, the month will generally I believe end on a warm note, with some pleasant sunshine.  I expect this settled weather to see us into June as well, and whereas it won't be all plain sailing, with the prospect of a continuous run of fine weather, it will, for the majority of the time, be a settled late Spring/early Summer.

Temperatures for the month will reflect average to above average values.
