 ;Ddo you mean 1.96 scale or a sub I 96, the japanese numbered there subs that way in ww2 ;)

Dear Sub Driver,

My apologies, I didn't thank you for your reply in my last. My enq. is 'curiosity', I was just wondering if such a beastie existed! In passing I have seen subs of various scales on various websites, but nothing seemingly in 1:96: to small a scale for all the necessary eqpt. maybe? (I obviously know nothing about model subs!).

There are lots of model submarines about in 1/96th scale and also 1/100th scale which is very close.

However you haven't specified the type of boat you are interested in.

Are you looking for a 1/96th scale Type VII u-boat?

To be absolutely honest I don't know, I am simply browsing for 'ideas'. The info. you supply is interesting/useful, and I wonder if I could trouble you please as to what website to look at for 1/96 (or indeed 1:100), U Boats? 1939 to 44 would be the date range.

I see, so you want WWII boats.

1/96th scale WWII boats are very thin on the ground, primarily because that is such a small scale for that era of boats, and the models can end up being very dinky- especially for RC.

Scale Shipyard do a 1/96th gato-

It's a hull kit only, but Dave Merriman makes a WTC for that model.

Perhaps you might consider a larger scale, like 1/72nd. Then you have boats like the Revell Type VII and their recently introduced Gato.

They are easily converted to RC with third party kits on the market or in development.
