Seaport Tug Motor
« on: February 24, 2010, 05:20:11 pm »

Hi,
I'm stripping out the innards to put new radio equipment, but wish to keep the original motor. I've worked with motors before but none of them have had the little Transistor/resistor electrical doohicky on them.

1, What is it?
2, Can i get rid of it and attach my Brushed ESC as i would normally?

That is to prevent electrical interference from the motor upsetting you TX/RX, they should be three capacitors each 0.1microfarad. I am sure there is a drawing on Mayhem somewhere showing where they go, if you have not used them before how have you suppressed electrical interference?

The Fairy Huntsman i built years ago used the motor from the headlight washers from a Montego. I just used it "as is", if the motor had suppressors then they must have been built in as there were none on the outside.

Sometimes you just get really, really lucky, and wind up with a well built motor thats been well bedded in, and just doesn't create interference.  Returning to the real world can be a jolt.
