Thanks for that Klunk  :-))
To be honest, I'm torn between the Fusion and the Griffin 600...........................the Griffin is bigger and more scale looking for a tenner more......decisions decisions.... %%

hi,
easy. buy them both..... :} :}

right i have both.

the fusion is an ideal first hover. the build is quick and easy. the brushless set up is ballistic. the 400 brushed motor is ok but maybe a little under powered.

the griffon is a bit harder to build, looks more scale. still works very well with a brushless set up. the griffon does suffer outside when there is any breeze. it gets blown about a bit. the griffon is very light and you will need to add balast to get it to work well outside.

they both work very well indoors. a smooth surface is required. they are both fast.

hope this helps

hi again,
i saw an aero at the mayhem weekend.
these work very well. the one i saw was powered by a brushless engine with a three cell lipo.
it was very quick, stable and was quite impressive.
the aero is good if you have a larger area available.
the larger size makes the craft better with wind present.

Where can I find the Fusion - 400 R/C Model hovercraft on the Palaform website?

I've already contacted Jag for shipping info, but I can't find more information on the content of the kit on the site (so I know what to dig up in my spare parts collection).

Please point me in the right direction.

Regards,Jan.

hi.
jag hasnt got any pictures or video yet as its a bit new.
you will need motor (brushed or brushless), speed control (forward only will do), micro servo, radio, battery, prop and prop adapter.
jag sells these items as power packs, he does basic (brushed motor, speed control, servo, prop adaptor and prop)
and also advanced (as above but brushless motor and controller)

i have brushed versions for my girls (aged 10 and 6)
also a brushless one for me to cause caos with

All,

A brushless motor of Kv=2000rpm to 3000rpm /V x Ø28 diameter is perfect for a high performance Fusion-400, so if you've got spare's from your Heli's you now know what to do with the electric bits.

Pretty soon we need to start thinking about racing these things? How about drafting some rules up guys........ >>:-(, Here's a start, any motor, any battery, no mods to basic Fusion-400 structure.... O0

I decided to go with the Fusion over the Griffin, with the brushless set-up, I can't wait now to get it running down at the lake, you can bet there will be lots of interest as I don't think anyone else has a hovercraft, the Fusion might even overtake the Club 500's in the popularity stakes  {-)

a word of warning.......my hovercraft has been nicknamed HOVERSUB. ANY boat WILL go over the TOP of it!!! To date a sea queen and a griffon hovercraft! 2 times in three weeks!!! Good thing is that they dry out by the next day!!! Velco your battery in the box, that will hold it in place upside down!!!! The only damage to mine so far has the prop spun off, but these float so was retrieved! An excellant craft to play with, loads of peeps have had a go on mine in the club, and it is being taken to the clun indoor meet this week (no water here except in the tea!) so no one can sink her!!

Klunk, I take it that they do float when 'Attacked'? not sink like the Titanic?
Another question, if the motor stops while they're out on the water, does the skirt collapse...or what happens? At our pool, the water is about 2 feet below the level of the surrounding jetty, so boats have to be lowered into the water via straps etc. This can be done with the Fusion I take it?
Thanks

yes they will float mine has not been sunk yet i just wait for a quiet spell on the pond and mine is quite noisey so it can be heard if you stop on water the skirt will colapse and the modle will float i alawys keep some power on the water the fusion can be lowerd into the water again i put a bit of throttle on and lower it in no need for straps though i have also made a ramp for my models to lauch from

Mine is nearly completed now, only the electrics to wire up. There is no mention of the piece of polystyrene that comes with the kit, I take it that it's just glued to the underside? It doesn't need cutting to fit?
Cheers

hi,
bond to poly sheet to the hull with silicon but make sure you cover the seam between the deck and hull.

not sure what the gunk above is, I thought it would just post the pics!!!

pics from  Wardown park, Luton.

pic 1 is a Griffon 600 tdx (large version) powered by 2 brushless motors, coming in for a close up. This is about 10 seconds before she went over the top of the Fusion 400!
pics 2 is the Griffon and fusion 400 (brushed motor version) running in unison on the lake today, no they do not run at the same spees! Many thanks to Alan Izzard the the pic!

Hi Jag,
All up and running, I took it down to the lake last Sunday but the water was quite choppy with a fair wind. As it was also the club 500 racing, I was a little apprehensive about testing it on the water, the most I've done is to whizz it round the house at the moment  :}
I'm waiting for a bit of calm as I don't want to capsize it on my first outing, if possible %)
Cheers

Just to report that I had a great time with the Fusion down at the lake today!
I maidened it with no problems at all :-))
I soon found out that the rudders are ultra sensitive and that as soon as it starts the turn, put some opposite lock on smartish!  {-) The battery I chose was a bit too front heavy as I had to use the one I had chosen in another boat, so I have ordered some more. I just have to get the center of gravity a little way back and it'll be perfect!
Thanks Jag, it's now one of my favourite boats  {-)

Mine was out on the lake today with the Griffon 2000, but we both came off the lake as there was a plethora of SMALL boats down the lake!!

Fellow Fusion-400's owners,

Good to hear that Nigel's Fusion-400 is up and running :-))

Dimension for C of G is in the manual, feedback from your experience using this dimension would be great.

Generally, setting C of G on hard surfaces depends on your preference, battery forward will make the back swing around easier, battery back will make the front light and make turning a bit docile.

When on water with Fusion-400 at full speed, ideally you want the bow wave to start forming 1/4 back from the front.

Jag

Hi All,

Just to let you know that a full review of the Fusion-400 will appear in the Radio Control Model Flyer in the November 2010 issue. The magazine will be available from WH Smiths during October 2010.

A copy of this review will be available on my website www.modelhovercraft.co.uk soon. :-))
