by the time we got home the Haggi were starting to eat everything in sight

We had a quiet time at the weekend and REALLY enjoyed ourselves it was great to
see everyone again and meet new people and make friends

From the sailing to the laughter around the camp site it was all worth it
Got to say thanks to all who helped in the organising and set up of the event :-))

Where to start?
First,  thanks to Martin and family and all the other organisers for yet another fantastic event, well done to all involved. it was superb  :-))

Now then...special thanks must go to Bill D203 (sorry for keeping you up way past your bed time mate) Mark and Angie, Klunk, Guy and family (hope Hamish is settling in nicely ok2)
But most importantly to Phil and Stav for making us so welcome, I hav`nt  laughed so much for ages.
I know there are many more to thank , but to tell the truth, I was so P***** that I can`t remember all of you ....Sorry.

Not only did we kick up a storm at the BBQ,  but we tamed the storm on the sunday when a couple of the guys took on the rather choppy conditions %%

I`ll post more pics tomorrow.

All credit to those who made it possible and you all deserve our thanks for ensuring that the weekend went ahead.

As the Mayhem gathering gives so many people a lot of pleasure, maybe next year we should consider allowing people to make voluntary donations at the event so that the cost does not fall on Martin and a few individuals. I for one would be very happy to put a fiver or so in the box and if most people did the same I'm sure that a good proportion of the costs would be covered.

Best to keep it as a voluntary charge so that people can give what they can afford.

Colin

I would like to second that......nobody should be out of pocket on an event like this wherever it takes place.

I'd happily throw a fiver in the hat, as I am sure would many.

Thanks again

Agreed Brian if it keeps the event afloat I'll contribute; Here are some shots of the day at the far end of the pond, unfortunately the dusk sailing video is being a bit of a pig to download but it'll arrive sometime.... {:-{ or maybe not?

Special thanks to all who contributed to Rex, Mandy Kyle and Bry's stand for ModelwarshipsUK and made us so welcome -You raised £112.22 for Help 4 Heroes Well done all! :-))

Some shots:

Who's taking who for a walk first thing:

Cloggie, Gieds (John) of East Kilbride club and Ghost

Kyle takes HMS Lindisfarne out on manouvres in his first attempt at sailing

Early out;

Mandy shows her skills by taking over HMS Lindisfarne in gale force gusts (Chris take note)  <*<

and late out;

Rex Mandy and self were busy all day entertaining Joe Public so little chance of us getting about for photo's I'm afraid so thanks to Modelboatmayhem for the shot of half of the display   ;D

:-)Anybody any shots of the other half? HMS Herme's Rex Mandy's Kellington and Bulldog on show?

Gales subsided after Martin of Mayhem was blown in and drown...all we found was his sombrero  jbgidj  fgyuhj He'll be sadly missed... sivi

I certainly wouldn't mind it either. I've never really thought about how much these events take to organise both in committing time and finances. It's a great weekend with the weather being the only interuption. I was down on the Saturday, couldn't make Sunday but it looked a bit wild on the water anyway! Well done to the Martin, the organisers, helpers and everyone who supported the weekend, looking forward to the next one. I'll definitely be camping, Dave.  :-))

Ali.
I came to the event on the Saturday with Wife and Grandson as a spectator, Grandson enjoyed the boats both on and off the water as well as talking to the Help for Hero's and Lifeboat gentlemen.
Wife was also suitably impressed and even said she would come again next year, now that was a real success !
To back up the fiver donation idea, I would be happy to make a contribution myself even if I do not bring a boat, the atmosphere of the day was good value for money.
Brilliant event, my congratulations to all involved.
p.s. Grandson (6 yrs. old) is mad on Lifeboats and so has a semi scale r.c. Mersey class Lifeboat built by Grandad as a birthday present which he is learning to sail

Cany anybody help please? I'm doing a report for Model Boats on the event and there is now a possibility that there might be a bit more space available than I had originally expected there to be. I have plenty of photos but it would also be nice to mention the names of the builders where I don't already have them. So I would be grateful if someone could tell me who the builders of the following boats are:

German Flak Barge (Scottish Mdel Warship Association)
Gaff rigged fishing boat with brown sails (Karoline?)
Fishing launch Lady Louise
Tug Lady Wooes (a MMM kit I believe)
Vital Byte experimaental steam boat (Ian ?)
Saint Columba turbine steamer (with the three red funnels)
Pleasure launch with white clinker built hull and blue superstructure
Our Lass from the Model Slipway kit.

No guarantees regarding publication of individual photos I'm afraid as it's up to the editor and what space he has, but it is a good opportunity to publicise the event for next year.

Thanks in anticipation,

Colin

Hi Colin

That one is indeed the Billings Karoline, built by me a couple of years ago.
Basically built as per kit apart from the cockpit which I made as a watertight box so that the steerer could stand in it!   I also fitted a 3.5 lb lead bulb keel and a rudder extension to improve the sailing quailities (a bit!).  Control i 2 channel; rudder and sheet winch.   The foresail is sheeted by an extra line from the main sheet winch.

Cheers

Hi Colin,

Vital Byte is described on the "Flash Steam Plant Control" ( http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=15817.0 ) thread in the Steam R&D section - the boiler, control system, hardware and software were all designed / built / written  by yours truely and the Stuart D10 I machined from the castings.

I don't normally own up to designing and building the hull!

Ian Gerrard.
