Great day down at Wicksteed Park, bit windy and wet at times but good to see familiar faces and some new ones.  :-) Some faces missing though that I wish were there.  {:-{  Would have liked to stop over but had to get back to my mad dogs.  Might pop down again tomorrow, just over hours drive away, just watch out for the gringo in the sombrero and poncho!! Dave.  :-))

don't forget your collecting box dave....a captive audience and we need all the dosh we can get for the sail

neil.

Wicksteed Park Model Boat Club were very friendly and welcoming, thanks to all of them for what was obviously a huge amount of work.

I second that 100%!

Usual Mayhem weather but it didn't seem to put anyone off except me as the boats I brought were small and would have been a bit too vulnerable in the conditions so they stayed in the car. It was also a shame that the wind precluded the Straight Running as I had rather been looking forward to that. Otherwise a good variety of models including a number of submarines and it was nice to talk to a lot of people.

I hope those attending tomorrow have more settled conditions.

Got in about an hour ago, what a great day..... my feet are killing me!

Spilt for choice with the weather, sun, could, wind, rain but everyone was warm and friendly.
Weather put up a good fight and the yacht boys were the first to break cover, in particular JayDee's massive J-class yacht, followed by Servos and his marble head..?

Greatest achievement of the day:
JayDee managed to entangle his massive J-class yacht around the windsock pole!
not just entangle it it but neatly touch the pole on the windwood side and cleverly treading the pole between the
mast and the main sail and all the way down the back stay?!?!?!

Stavros jumped in and saved the day.

When the yacht was retrieved, there was not a mark on it!!!

There were 3 or 4 straight runners out in the windy conditions today Colin, you must have missed them  O0

But the most impressive boat of the day was Michael's self built dynamic diving ( and planing! ) submarine!

The Process is,

CTRL, PRT SCR

Open Irfan View, paste, save image as (JPG), turn down quality to about 50 %

upload to Mayhem..

If you dont have Irfan View its a free download and a simple user interface :-)

I have just got back home now. Phew wind and caravans are not good news. Still it is home all safe and sound.
I would like to say a word or two of thanks to Phil ,Martin and Stavros for all the hard work to set up the event. Well done  :-))
As expected there was a unhappy feeling about this years IC ban and other issues. However the Lads from Scotland lifted up my spirits till 2 am this morning. In the end there was 3 of them left standing Me and a Luton member see it out as long as we could. My head this morning {:-{.
As I said before I set off on Friday That was the last time I will go to an Wicksteed event again. There is no IC then I'm not going to waste my time and money. Still what has been said and done cannot now be changed.
On an earlier post the reported incident of a boat leaping out the water! I was not there to check out his boat as I had gone home. Should one of Wicksteed MBC have checked it over and the driver before he /she went anywhere the lake????

Bill, glad you got home safe and van is ok.  shame about No ic running (officially),

for some reason there was a 60mph limit on the variable speed limit, cant see any reason for it as it was flowing freely. oh well, Bill any chance of openning her  up at Llanberis, see whjat she';ll do?

Martin, thanks for the event,

Davina and Phillis, thanks for the entertainment in the period dresses!

Hi
Just got back from Wicksteed and i'd like to thank everyone for organising the bash and many thanks to the person from the Wicksteed club who happened to have a spare fuse that got me running unfortunately i had to leave early as the matchsticks warding off the jetlag gave out. Once again many thanks to all.
