Kirklees Model Boat Club Annual Open Day
« on: June 09, 2010, 06:34:28 pm »

Kirklees Model Boat Club would like to welcome any fellow model boat builders to our open day on Sunday 11 July at Wilton Park Birstall. There should be about 20 visiting clubs, trade support from Scale Hobbies, Model Boat Bits, Worner Marine, Leeds Large Scale Hobbies, Mount Fleet, Deans Marine and possibly Model Slipway. Club members will be putting out a tug towing course.  We hope to have club 500 events during the day along with free sailing for all types of models plus a large display of static models. Cars parking on the road must park in the lane opposite the park facing towards Bradford.  Start time is around 10 am to about 4 pm. There are some excellent raffle prizes.  Post code for sat nav users is WF17 8JH but please be aware of the speed cameras on the road to the park entrance max speed 30mph. Any Further information can be supplied via Mayhem P/M.

Don't forget that all steam models will need to be certificated under the 'Blue Book' Rules so manufactured boilers and home made boilers below the 3 bar-litre limit will need a current steaming certificate and all boilers above the 3 bar-litre limit will need a hydrostatic pressure test certificate as well as the steaming certificate.

Unfortunately there will not be testing facilities on this day so certificates must be presented on the day.  Kirklees Model Boat Club will recommence steaming certificate testing from the end of August.

Should be as good as last year - if not better,
The Ladies will have lots of sandwiches & cakes etc. for sale as well as Tea & coffee
and soft drinks.
Come on down and enjoy the day- it's bound to be better than staying at home.
Hope to see you there

It was a good show and hope it gets bigger each year.

Hi Guys - A big thank you to all Clubs that attended our annual Open Day.  We were blessed with a dry day with occasional sunny spells.  Visiting club members would like to know how we manage to get good weather every year.  Sorry John if you took some leaves home with you from the lake, please can we have them back as the Park Ranger counted them this morning?  Trade support was very good with some traders having to travel some considerable distance.  An excellent raffle, took an hour to draw.  I will be writing to all the visiting clubs in January 2011 for next year's event.   Hope to see you all at further shows throughout the year or at our Navy Day on 12th September.  More photographs to follow.  Also check out Kirklees website later in the week. Congratulations to all raffle prize winners and thank you to everybody who supported it.   I am sure you will  all agree the day was a success thanks to your support.
