There seems to be a obsession with using Lite ply nowadays...nasty stuff IMO
Not necessarily. If you know how to use it (and, more importantly, where to use it) then it is a versatile, durable and easily-worked material. For example, my little Swordsman is made almost entirely of the stuff and is much the better for it, as marine ply would have been too heavy. However, the Huntsman bulkheads and keel were designed to be bandsawn from WBP marine-grade ply and to laminate them from lite-ply was a huge error of judgement - even if it made manufacture easier. It also made my original plans and assembly drawings redundant, which was a double whammy because the revised "instructions" were dreadful!
